Cards move for me most of the time, and sometimes one cards tells a complete story. The fixed card meanings only rarely apply. Who else reads them differently?

Hi all, It's been a while since I was around these parts and I'm checking in today with a topic fitting for the new year: What's your personal card for 2020? How do you calculate it? I take the day and month of birth and add it to the current year. So 4/9/2020 (following a DD/MM/YY format) becomes: 4+9+2+0+2+0=17 (The Star) which can be further broken down to 1+7=8 (Strength). I'm interested to see what your card for the year is and how you feel it's likely to interact with the energy of The Emperor, who is governing 2020. For the record, I'm currently experiencing my first Temperance year EVER! Which is sort of exciting 🙂 …

So this year 2020 is the card 4 The Emperor's ( 2 + 2 ) in tarot and last year we had 12 The Hanging Man's year ( 2 + 0 + 1 + 9 )! Is this something you have thought about before? What's your opinion about this kind of calculations?

Certain caveats: I am aware that the Myers-Briggs 16 Personalities has been the subject of harsh criticism among psychologists. Matching the 16 Personality Types with the Court Cards isn't new. It's been done before, and many websites show it. I may be posting in the wrong place in the Forum. Having said all of the above, I want to say that I can't do much about the debates going on among psychologists as to the merits of the Myers-Briggs tests, as I have no Major in Psychology. I'm just a tarot card reader; that the various Tarot websites online themselves don't agree which personality type matches the cards; if I posted in the wrong place, I hope a…

Hi everyone, So I've been studying tarot for less than a year, and I wanted to share my experiences to see if it makes sense. I'm in between books learning tarot, numerology and others. What I try to read is more about information, and not looking for the answers such as "quick and fast methods...," because I feel I need to work for some of my answers and I believe that tarot is no exception. So I read the stories behind each tarot card as a platform (Raider deck) and grew from there. At that point, I would use my feelings (a lot) to read what the cards are saying. This is where I would like to share my process and get your opinion on this. When dr…

When I was younger I had an origami calendar that gave you a figure to fold each day. I was hoping to find something along those line, but with tarot spreads. Maybe a book or website. Any recommendations?

Just curious, does anyone here have and rituals they do with their cards during the full or new moons? I am starting something new tonight where I plan on putting my cards in order during the new moon of each month to reset the energies. If anyone else has traditions like this I'd love to hear about it!

The title says it all. While browsing through the net, I stumbled upon some sites that said "why you should not read the cards by yourself" and stuff like that. Why would they say that? If it's true, what's the negative implication? If it's not true, do I need like a special preparation or guide to read them myself, or...?

Hey all! I am a novice in astrology ( took a few lessons) and at the moment I am not very interested in going too deep into it- since it is very time consuming I do however, want to better implemet astrology into my tarot readings - especially to gain another layer of understanding the majors and court cards . So , I am looking for a good source to gather that info ( a reccomanded book/ forum/what ever) If you have ideas- Would LOVE to hear them thank you!!!

When you read questions regarding how person A feels for person B, is your experience that important but not direct circumstances will affect the cards? like say person A in this case is on a vacation away from B for some days or cannot reach B the day the reading was done etc. Or do you find that the tarot focuses on the bigger direct feelings, and not minute things that can affect feelings in the moment?

I think this is the right place for this discussion - Mods please feel free to move it if you need So I just recently came across the idea of a 'depth year' - thank you Raggydoll - and it chimes with me as we have been downsizing and enjoying our remaining possessions more for a couple of years already - since we moved house. Nothing hidden away in the loft for example (apart from tree decorations for Yule) - if we don't look at it and love it, why have it? Even the idea of restricting my buying of decks - I've bought less than a dozen this year, and they were nearly all second hand decks which I felt I missed first time round. But I do have a lot of d…

This is so weird. I was shuffling through my favorite deck, The Illuminated Tarot by Carol Herzog, and I noticed that there were 2, yes 2 of the same card in the deck. I've been using this deck for years. (yes, she had send a few individual extra bonus cards... but I don't remember this as being one of them... I put them elsewhere). What does this mean? Should I keep the double card in my deck? It's a card that for me has a very positive meaning having to do with DreamPlay -- a practice that I am fascinated with and love. What would you do? The card: NIne of Swords

So...I have completely misplaced my original RWS deck that I got 30 something years ago. It happened about a year ago in a move. It is frustrating in that I swear it was with my other decks, but it is not...and i KNOW it is not in my old place b/c I have been there twice since I moved to give paper work to the new owner. I really want to use it. Is it weird that I feel "guilty" about buying a new one....or I am more wondering should I buy a new one, or will that "mess up the vibes" I have wiht the old one. I KNOW what's going to happen is I will buy a new one, and the old one will suddenly appear again... on the other hand, if the old one does reap…

would there be anything you'd do/fix/work out/create? I still grieve for the loss of the community interaction at Aeclectic Tarot. Get over it, move on, yadayada....but in a perfect world, Dear Santa, I'd like to see Cartomancy, Cult of Tarot and Here, combine. I know it would still never please everyone, nothing does, I know there are egos involved, has to be, we're human. But wouldn't it be wonderful? They each have strengths that would be so wonderful to be sourced in one spot. Witchvox? Come on in too! So much information, so many interesting people, now all segregated... where is the fun in that? I made the decisi…

I'll probably have time next weekend. I'm off Thursday, I'll do it then. Can't believe the month is over already, I'm sorry, I'll get right on it. I've had a house fire/leg amputated/death in the neighborhood I've had a sliver. I've had a flat tire. I'm waiting for the new moon I'm waiting for the full moon. The moon has fallen so I got sidetracked. I'm waiting for Pluto to be in axis with the sun before I can start. My king of staves has peanut butter on it. All said with a smile but...wouldn't we be much better readers if we just sat down and got it done? If you've had time to check facebook, watch…

Our yearly Sacred Days of Yule thread is now open. I'm a little late this year, but there's plenty of time to come check it out and claim a reading post. For those not familiar with it, it's a reading that you do for yourself over the 12 days of Yule from Dec. 20th-December 31st drawing one card per day. This is not an exchange or reading circle, we're just a group of readers that all post our readings for ourselves in the same thread....and chat a bit, ask questions and share observations. Any level of reader is welcome.

Since the first time I got in touch with the tarot cards, I understood (kinda) the extrapolation between the figures and chapters in life, but also had the tendency of associating the figures with real persons I met in real life, don't know exactly why I did that. For example, I thought of death as someone that killed a friend of mine from the old neighbourhood accidentally in a car accident, the devil as a former boss who tried to scam me etc.. Do you also have a similar way of thinking? Or do you think of something completely different when you see the cards?

I don't currently have access to the reading exchanges here yet, so I offered some free readings for feedback on another website where other readers can post free reading offers or post for interpretation help. (I'm not going to name it here, so it doesn't look like advertisement.) It's a general forum, so there's no specific crowd that visits it, I'd say. I put up my first advertisement and got two "love" reading requests within an hour. I took down the offer, did the readings, wrote them up, got back into the swing of reading for people other than myself, and sent them off to the querents and went to bed. I woke up the next morning to positive feedback from …

Hi! forgive me if this would be better in a different section of the forum, I wasn't really sure if there was a good thread to go to for advice. TLDR: Should I get my friend his first Tarot deck? One of my closest friends recently came to me inquiring about Tarot. He has some understanding of it, as both me and one of his other friends and his girlfriend practice it. I think he is interested in dabbling in it and asked me if it was true that it would be better for him to wait for someone to gift him a deck, rather than get one himself. I told him the story of my first deck, how it was not gifted but we found each other in the perfect moment, and how gifted d…

I wasn’t sure where exactly to post this but I want to thank the people who reached out to me recently via Direct Message as well as the kind responses on my last post. I just want to say, ykno we’re all like this big family that helps each other in times of need or for casual talk or whatever. We’re not going to all agree on the way we ask questions, or even the questions we ask. But let’s NOT judge people, their decisions or their questions. Let’s also not moralize people and I appreciate the people who DON’T do that. Y’know it feels terrible to think you’re stupid or wrong or weird for having certain questions or the way you word questions, etc. anyways I respect that …

Hey all! Sadly while doing a spread for the forum I didn't notice that one of the cards fell to the floor and while I was busy typing my "dear" "dear" dog came and licked it half to death- het saliva tore through the corner making the card un-usable. I was wondering - instead of buying a new deck worth around 18$- is there any way you can recommend to try and get that one card? thank you!

Hullo All! I had this happen for the first time today and I wondered if it had any significance. I will give you some context to the situation and the spread I have done first... So I was doing a yes no spread, it was a 3 card pull, with the middle card giving an y/n answer based on being upright (yes) or reversed (no). Context: I am quite unhappy in my workplace, though had chosen not to leave but instead drop my pay level and responsibility so that I could begin my own business on the side of my stable job. Question I asked my deck: Will I be leaving my job in the new year? Card 1: ten of cups reversed Card 2: 8 of …
