I took some time off of my decks and they've been packed away until recently. Now that I have them out, I've been going through them, just counting and basically checking that all is well. I noticed a few of my decks have "hardened" into a brick and kinda feels tacky when trying to separate them. Is this normal? Only a few, most are great, even duplicates of the hardened ones are great. Weird.

I am feeling more FOUR OF SWORDS. Not sick, just kind of pensive, and it's a cold and snowy day, perfect for some rest and rejuvenation and reflection!

Theres a great thread now on the 3 of Swords, I had one going on the 4&7 of Swords, and there's usually one around about the 5 of Swords. I don't see or notice many others of any other suit, (I'm not counting the Majors her) that spark so many questions and wonders. Could it be only that the Swords penetrate the mind and ask us to think? or try to influence us to think before we speak? Watch that sharp tongue? or are they so metaphorically broad that they naturally instigate so much thinking about what they really mean. I mean, is the 10 of Swords so bad? Is it the end of it all? All your hopes and dreams gone with a stab in the back. How could it be? That's…

What could make this girl cry actual tears of joy? Being reunited with her beloved decks! About 6 years ago, I had a fire in my apartment building. Lost a few things to smoke damage, but managed to save all my decks. But I had nowhere to go, so they all went into storage, and I spent a year or two as a homeless wanderer, seeing the country. Today, my bins of tarot and oracles were recovered and I actually wept to see all the amazing decks I own! The Phantomwise! My old RWS...my Morgan's, and my sweet Paulina! My hideous deck subcollection! And all the cool circus and sideshow cards! And yeah...a few I forgot I owne…

Are tarot cards mostly occult in nature? I mean do they best work under an apocryphistic point of view or do they work in the same way for all purposes?

if...hypothetically, you understand...a certain Thothie who has been out of the loop for years but who was intrigued by M.M.Meleen's decks ever had the funds to buy one of them, which would you recommend? Please discuss pros, cons, fronts, backs, size, stock, companion material etc. Fool's Dog apps are out, I'm afraid. I have one and it leaves me so cold and unfulfilled when I try to use it.

Hello tarot friends, I'm looking for a little advice regarding a difficult tarot deck :). Last year, after much longing, I finally got my hands on a copy of the beautiful Wildwood Tarot. We had a little shuffle, I did my first draw and I got a nonsensical answer. Okay, teething problems, I thought to myself. I did something I would normally never do and cleansed the deck with sage and reiki and put it away for a while. I keep getting drawn to this deck and every couple of months I take it out but each time, I get the snarkiest answers! Like, I ask it how it wants to be worked with and it gives me the three of swords. This sounds ridiculous but I'm starting to thi…

Hi everyone X/ I have a question that I'd love some insight and/or tips to. Do you read tarot for your own personal questions? I've tried to read them for myself, but I'm afraid to somehow influence the energy of the reading. So I was just wondering if it's a common use to do self-readings, and if so...any tips so that the reading can be as non "judgemental" as possible? (Hope I'm making sense here LOL). Thank you!

I'm leaning more and more towards this myself. I know the minors and court cards, even Ace's have their place, it the Major Arcana's I find myself only drawn to towards answering the question, the metaphors and even the numerical values with their numerical partners. Numbers are very important to me, but not so much with the minors. I feel a master can advise more clearly that that's the way to be what you are, that's the spiritual exercise you have to do better with the Majors.

For me it is Celtic Cross by far... but I will do 3/5 carder for quick stuff, especially if it's something I don't want so much information back on. The "Very Bad Day" spread I amusingly use quite often on my Tarot app (Galaxy Tarot) even though most of the time, it is not a bad day at all. I just find the energy it gives back sometimes to be quite well... awesome. It cuts through the nonsense and lets me know what my priority should be for the day and what really isn't and the other spreads in the app are not so good for this.

I noticed that the tarot (tarocchi) deck used in this online game looks historical. It is one of the decks where most of the images look the same if you turn the cards. Does anyone know if this specific deck is still being printed today? (not tarot gaming cards in general but this edition) http://scarto.sharpness.net/

Hi! I’m Autumn! I just got into Tarot card readings, and found a Deity spread that I wanted to try. (I’ve been having weird dreams lately, and wanted to see if it was a deity.) 1: What deity is contacting you 2: Negative personality traits associated with them 3: Positive personality traits associated with them 4: What the deity rules over 5: Something the deity is associated with/signs they send I got: 1: Reversed 9 of Wands 2: 4 of Cups 3: Reversed 5 of Cups 4: Reversed Temperance 5: 7 of Cups If anyone can help me figure this out, it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! ❤️

Can someone explain to me as simply or as detailed as you choose the ideas surrounding these two, apparently opposite, energies? My brain has been tripping over this for while, and since I'm looking at magician cards at the moment, I was reminded. Are they opposite? Is it ever either/or, or is each never pure? What arrangement are those words actually trying to portray? Some of the problem might be the way words attract meanings and those meanings change over time. For example, receptive, recieiving, irrational, immaterial or without form... these just don't sit well with me because it's like I'm missing the real point. My culture thinks of those things a…

How accurate is a tarot reading and would it apply to me if a person, who does not know my name or my date of birth, or how I look, but to whom I have shared my concerns about a particular topic, decides to do a reading for me on their own initiative? And in such a case, since I did not ask them to do the reading, should I be required to pay with money?

I think this is the right place for this discussion - Mods please feel free to move it if you need So I just recently came across the idea of a 'depth year' - thank you Raggydoll - and it chimes with me as we have been downsizing and enjoying our remaining possessions more for a couple of years already - since we moved house. Nothing hidden away in the loft for example (apart from tree decorations for Yule) - if we don't look at it and love it, why have it? Even the idea of restricting my buying of decks - I've bought less than a dozen this year, and they were nearly all second hand decks which I felt I missed first time round. But I do have a lot of d…

I'm currently reading through Mary Greer's book on Understanding the Tarot Court. It's a great book and I'm really enjoying it. She has a short section on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and gives a table of correspondences between the types and the court. It's a personality test that has four main variables, giving sixteen possible combinations, so in theory it should be possible to fit the court cards into this. My test result gives me as INTP (Introvert, intuitive, thinking, perceiving. There are three authors who have allocated this to the court cards, Mary Greer herself, Jana Riley and Linda Gail Walters. And of course they are all diff…

I find myself asking my deck a yes/no question only to be baffled by the card I draw. How do you treat the cards for yes/no questions? What if the card drawn is reversed? Do you draw the next card for clarification?

Over the last year or so since I took up tarot, I have developed an interest in not only the meaning etc, but also the myths and lore that seems to surround tarot. They absolutely fascinate me, and I suspect that tarot has a bigger influence on days of yore & trends than historians would have us believe. I suspect, like most folk legends and Trixie tales, there is a little truth in them all. From the gems i've picked up from books & sites, here are a few i can remember off the top of my head. If anyone has any that they've heard/read I would love to hear them. Unlucky 13, which is very common in modern day culture, is said to have originated from The De…

Hi all! I just found this forum today, and I am so happy that I did! This is my first post, so I guess it will double as an introduction as well as a discussion on some ideas I had. You can call me Adora. I have been reading Tarot for somewhere around 20 years now. Although I didn’t get really serious about learning and memorizing the cards for the past few years. I read based solely on intuition before that. Some of you may recognize me from other forums that used to be around, I certainly see some familiar names here! In my reading career I have always struggled with reversals. For the majority of the time I read I completely disregarded them completely. I had b…

Hi all  happy holidays! I was curious to know what the Tarot had to say about voice quality, tone, little quirks about it, etc. I asked it about my voice, singing and speaking, at its most positive + beautiful, and I got the Page of Cups. So out of curiosity, what do you think the court cards sound like? High-pitched, soft-spoken, melodious, baritone?

Very simple really. I was wondering if anyone here uses tarot and video games or as a video game. Personally I use them for games in which I have to select a character to play such as a fighting game or a game such as League of Legends. And if you do use them for video game how do you use them? Ok, this sounds dumb, but I need a bit of advice on how to get started! I've read and digested the Pollack book - its great, its informative, I learned a TON from it, and I will be referring to it and re-reading it - BUT. I need a "push" on how to do my first few attempts at actually reading the cards. Who for? What kind of reading/questions? I figure the Celtic Cross is probably as good as any of a spread for someone clueless like me, certainly the description of the "Tree of Life" is currently WAAAY over my head. Obviously, I'm going to have to refer heavily on the book to try to figure out what the spread is trying to tell me, but "what kind/style of reading should I a…
