Hi all. Hope you are well. I am still new to tarot and draw a card each day. Today I drew the Death card for the first time and wondered if it's anything to worry about? I am probably over thinking but thought I would see what you all thought. I use the Gilded tarot deck if that makes any difference.

Hi all. X/ I wonder how you flip the cards when you read? Of course - if you don't use reversals it doesn't matter - but if you do, I think it's very important how you flip the cards. I've seen people flip them so that the bottom of the card becomes the top. It's not how they were placed in the deck before flipping, but the very opposite. I think this is dangerous and wrong - especially if you read for others. When I read using reversals, I make sure the cards ends up the same way as they were in the deck before flipping. It means I flip them sideways. In my opinion this is very important.

I am not sure what is happening or why, maybe I am just having confidence issues, but I feel really disconnected with readings for others for the last couple of days. Stolen right from some videos I've seen on YouTube, lets talk about the most misunderstood cards in tarot! What cards do you feel are misunderstood? How do you explain them? For me, one of the big ones is Death, and it's a double-whammy. First there's the obvious, when people don't read tarot or are new to it and they worry that it's literal. Nope, it usually isn't a card that is foreboding your imminent Death! But... I think it's also misrepresentated when you turn a complete 180 and say that if it isn't literally about Death, then it has to be about Rebirth. I feel like sometimes it gets softened too far, and that can actually be damaging in a reading because in life…

For me it is Celtic Cross by far... but I will do 3/5 carder for quick stuff, especially if it's something I don't want so much information back on. The "Very Bad Day" spread I amusingly use quite often on my Tarot app (Galaxy Tarot) even though most of the time, it is not a bad day at all. I just find the energy it gives back sometimes to be quite well... awesome. It cuts through the nonsense and lets me know what my priority should be for the day and what really isn't and the other spreads in the app are not so good for this.

What if a tarot deck could answer just one question for you in deep detail and with complete accuracy? Say that all of the common disclaimers are gone, the future it tells IS set in stone, the soul mate you seek comes with a name and address, you feel the tightness of the corset from a past life, the spirit you speak to rises in front of your eyes, the thoughts from your crush fill your mind… what would you dare to ask? As I've been poking about in the help section for readings, it's kinda been tumbling around in my head - how much of a reading is the deck giving the specific cards that will have pertinence to the person pulling them specifically, and how much is it about the cards have a universal message that anyone can pick up on based on the card title and spread position alone? I've always felt resistence towards giving a "second opinion" on another reader's reading because of the way that I read. Happy Pi Day! I was wondering if anyone has created a Spread based on the "sacred fraction" 22/7 or other metaphysical thought behind the digits of Pi? My first level of thought was to pull the 7th and 22nd cards. Then, I was considering a layout similar to: 1st row (centered) - 3 cards 2nd row - 7 cards 3rd row - 7 cards Any ideas on naming the slots for possible interpretation filters?

So I came home with a new deck today (Tarot Familiars, artwork by Lisa Parker) and while I was in the shop I got chatting with the shop assistant about decks with fully illustrated pip cards (like the standard RWS) and decks without illustrated pips (just a picture showing the number of the suite - e.g. 5 cups shown for the 5 of Cups). I noticed a few people talking about struggling to read for themselves, even when they find it easy to read for other people , so I thought a thread compiling some tips for that would be useful! My main trick is to treat a reading for myself as I do reading for others. As I read mainly online through written readings, that means I do my own readings the same way when I'm struggling. Hi, I've been using Biddy online to look up meanings for Tarot and sometimes look up Youtube videos for individual cards, but I was wondering if anyone knows a great website for real noobs like me to learn Tarot? xP I'm looking for free tarot guide sites, even if it's from a blogger, and cheap, but effective tarot books. But I can't read wordy or high vocabulary books...my attention span sometimes shuts off or fly away, unfortunately... I don't mean this in as a criticism or pettiness. I just hope it will give people pause for thought. For many, many years, we readers have been accused of reading body language, making stuff up, preying on the vulnerable, etc. So when I see someone saying "oh, I read him last week" it feels kind of like fingernails on a chalkboard. I read cards for a client---I don't read clients, minds or people's body language or anything else other than the cards. I used this last night for the first time and I really liked. It was just a fun spread and it did flow right along with the person asking the question about the possibility of a future road trip and all the cards were related to each other. it's a 21 card spread, three rows of 7 columns using the Major Arcana's and I also use the Ace's. Each column represents a different aspect of the question in the same way most other large spreads do. But, I'm finding alternative spreads of at least 9 cards to use other than the Celtic Cross and this one along with another I found based on a Kabala geometric design to be the best. I did a quick search of the forum and didn't see anyone talking about this. Lindsay Mack runs an absolutely phenomenal tarot podcast of the same name where she goes deep with the tarot in a soul-centered way. She's absolutely wonderful at finding was to look at the cards, especially the "difficult" ones and seeing what that card is bringing to you, rather than being something that is happening to you, if that makes sense? It's a very empowering way to use tarot that really aligns with the way I work with it as well.
