It looks like our kind facilitator for the Circle of Seasons exchange has had to be away for a bit, and I thought for August I could facilitate just a general circle similar to the old Newbies Circle at AT -- i.e. welcoming to any level of experience, no particular theme, a suggested spread with 3 - 5 cards. Would you be interested in that next month? I haven't facilitated a circle, and can't promise I could do it every month, but with the mentor program in place, I thought it would be nice to have a second tarot circle in August to go along with ISG. If it turns out that COS will be running in August, that's great too, and in that case we could probably just …

it happens to everyone ,, you are in a middle of a great reading,, then all the sudden KAPOW blank mind , it seems like everything you ever known about the tarot has left your brain, ! there is the old (new to some who never heard of this i guess) techique of using numerology to correspond cards with other cards,, mary k greer eve wrote a book on called tarot contellations . you take your double digits numbers and add them. 15 becomes 6 ! so the devil becomes the lovers , and everything moves by the hermit card in the tarot consellations. i was thinking of that further and discerned if you can add the numbers then you must be able to subtract the numbers..…

ratty asked this in another thread "I need to buy some new jeans, my old ones are getting a bit tatty, but I can't decide what colour. What colour do you think I should get?" it was kind of the extreme of a trivial question for after all the colour would be kind of personal to the situation, for conjecture here.. I imagine if I did a celtic cross on this,, and I looked at the beneath you card it would deal perhaps why a certain colour might be your favourite.. this is behind you,, perhaps it might look at why you are changing your colour schemes, to this is above you, perhaps It might point to what is you best colour or reversed, why a colour wouldn't work on …

I made a comment that people who have been reading for years and years have done a ton of readings. You can find the comment here: https://www.thetarotforum.com/talking-tarot/people-testing-you/msg35906/#msg35906 So I got to thinking it would be fun to find out how many readings for other people this community has performed! It's totally anonymous but if you wish to share how long you've been reading the tarot in relation to how many readings you've done for others would add more to the survey. ;D

As I'm just staring with tarot, I've been offering free readings in exchange for feedback several places. Most people are nice and thankful, but I find some people are deliberately testing me. I've gotten questions such as "where do I work?" to which I've replied that they probably already know this. And then there are those who deliberately mislead me in the question, and then in the feedback tell me I'm all wrong. Like they ask if they'll meet someone new for a relationship soon, but in the feedback say they had a spesific person in mind that they had a few dates with. And then I feel like they are like "got ya, you didn't see HIM in your cards, did you?" How do …

Hello. I'm doing a celtic cross for someone, and I got 8 wands in "this crosses you" and wheel of fortune in the result. It has never happened to me before to get both these cards in the same reading. Is this some strong message about fate? Or, as I think, has fate crossed this person, but will also help them out? It is a love reading, about a specific person who has wronged the sitter badly. I also got death and the star, so I think the sitter will choose to end the relationship. Thank you so much for any insight <3

I'm finding the advice the cards give sometimes confusing/contradicting and I sometimes feel like they tell me things I'm expecting to hear in the moment that isn't necessarily the right answer. I did a reading on if I should let go of this person I've liked for a while and how to. I thought they were with someone else so I thought it was for the best. I got 7 of cups, 8 of cups, and six of swords. I took that to mean that I need to stop holding onto a fantasy that's not going to come true and move on/ walk away from the situation. A few weeks later I went for drinks with them and found out they are in fact single so I considered telling them I liked them and did ano…

How do this when there is something you want to work through or tease out, and it's in regards to something going on in your life, but you want to make sure you have a clear head when you do a reading for yourself? Or do you just simply ask someone else to do the reading for you?

I hope this is the right place to post! Does anyone have any suggestions for resources or advice on using Tarot and Oracle decks together? I am curious to start using the two together for a little more insight, however, I have had a hard time thinking of the how. I was thinking perhaps doing a spread with Tarot and using Oracle cards as a clarifier of sorts? Apart from that, I am drawing a blank as to how to use them together.

Pretty much everyone seems to agree that a Tarot reading isn't going to give you the next winning lottery numbers, or the name of the horse that will win today's race, or the closing price for XYZ stock on Wednesday next week. If that's true, then what, exactly, does the Tarot tell you about the future? I think it works this way: Events seem to flow as a sort of continuum, with the past seen as effecting the present, and the present thought to have some influence on the future. So, by examining the present, and coming to see it from different perspectives, expectations for the future may be focused, and the scope of those expectations may be narrowed. Based on such…

I was just curious as to how many people here use their cards to speak with spirits? I’m considering trying to use my deck to communicate with my spirit guides.

While reading "Tarot Stellar" by Christiana Gaudet, I came across a very interesting exercise that consisted in separating the four aces from the rest of the deck and ask which one better describes your reading style. I found it quite useful to help us think thoroughly about our reading style and how can we better put our strengths out there so they can shine. I am an Ace of Pentacles and I couldn't agree more. What is your Ace reading style and how do you think it relates to you?

It was pointed out to me the other day that nine of cups could be read as be careful what you wish for: what we believe we want isn't what we actually want. I have always thought that the defensive nature of the nine of wands is down to being caught out in a lie. There's a fake it till you make it aspect. The nine of swords can be seen as worry over nothing or getting things totally out of proportion. In all three cases there's an element of wrong belief/representation. It's not just that there's something missing, it's a disconnect with reality. With raises the obvious question. What about the nine of pentacles? It's easy to talk about what's missing, but is there als…

I'd be interested to know how many of you use the meanings of numbers, 1 through 10, in interpreting your cards. Here, I'm thinking primarily of the minor arcana pips, of course. But if number meanings play a part in your interpretation of your majors or court cards, I'd like to hear about that too. Oh, and if you use a particular book, or other source for the meaning of numbers, please tell what it is. I do use the meaning of numbers in conjunction with the suits when considering the pip cards. I used to have it all written down, with source references, etc. But that was in years past. I am presently re-compiling that information, and re-reading the books. My p…

Hi there, Im working with my favourite deck to attempt to reconnect back with my cards. Its been a while and im looking deeper into significant symbols that occur on my cards to gain their meanings to the card in hand. I've chosen to focus on the Swords suit recently, and im working with the Silver Witch Tarot. Its usual depiction of a woman, blindfolded, with two balanced swords are there, however it appears to have roses on her right (cards left) and lilies on her left (cards right). Both are slightly frozen. Could this signify the sitters vunerability with this card in play? Thoughts welcomed :D

What do you look for in a deck? What attracts you to this deck but not that one? Have you noticed a difference between the decks that don't work for you after all when you've gotten them home and in your hands, and the ones that sync up with you pretty much instantly? Is it an art style? Symbolism? Something harder to define? And just in general - what makes you buy a deck? What's your taste in tarot? Traditional? Or the complete opposite? Rich oil-painting colours, or pastels? Do you like photographic decks, like the Starchild or David Bowie tarots, or ones where every card's art was originally painted by hand? And why do you like what you like? I just find it fas…

The five of cups is my card of the day. I'm working with a 1928 printing of Tarocco Piemontese this week. I made my peace with mentally transposing pictorial cards onto the pips, but in my heart I feel guilty about doing so My 5 of cups, conflicted, this morning led me to wonder how You read pips. And why that method. I don't believe there were any books on TdM pips when I entered the tarot world.

I've been looking into telling time with the tarot and have found a few site links that I decided to share. It seems time is as elusive in the tarot as it is in RL. The listed links are from individual readers that have their own techniques. I hope you all find something to glean from these sites. https://www.llewellyn.com/blog/2014/03/timing-techniques/ https://78nightsoftarot.com/blog/telling-time-with-tarot/ https://www.biddytarot.com/timing-techniques-in-tarot/ http://www.tarotteachings.com/how-to-read-tarot-time.html http://angelorum.co/topics/divination/timing-in-tarot-with-free-cheat-sheets/ http://www.tarotingie.com/time-events-using-tarot/ …

I'm used to shuffling playing cards. Even with these I find the standard shuffle, moving cards to the front and back of the deck takes ages to get them random. I prefer to riffle shuffle. My RWS deck is slightly larger as well as having lots more cards and I can only just riffle, by splitting the pack into four and doing two riffles. I'm not using reverses at the moment so I have to riffle vertically to keep the card's orientation, which is harder than riffle shuffling horizontally. Now I'm thinking about buying the new Lo Scarabeo Visconti Modrone deck, which is larger still. One of the things holding me back is worry that I just won't be able to shuffle them prope…

Tarot is an intuitive medium. I view the tarot as sparking the reader's intuitive faculties by reminding them of various archetypes, of the human condition and common tropes. To me intuition is a faculty of the mind, a pattern recognition system of the subconscious that lets us connect apparently unrelated things. Consequently, for me, when inspiration strikes from the blue it comes from within. When I read tarot, I believe the answers come from within too, or at least how I apply the spread to the external question. For others, when inspiration strikes with no apparent source it is a reflection of the divine. It comes from outside. The universe is speaking. Is this…

Hi! out there 8) I was asked to say whats been happening with my readings for me as a reader, since I've been giving readings here at TT&M, and how it has helped... Here's the request and my answer: Dee, I remember when you started your thread back in June I think, and every time I see the title go by I wonder. Wonder how or if you see reading style/technique growing or changing, and if feedback for that many readings has giving you insight you didn't have before. Will you make a post about that in Talking Tarot? Kudos for sticking with it! Sharyn/AJ Hi! AJ, Thank you :) I think I do things the same way pretty much(my style), but it keeps me up on …
