geminibutts Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 Hey! My name is Ellen and my whole family has always been subtly into tarot my entire life. We all know how to do it, some better than others, however we keep it private and don't really mention it to each other. It's very odd, really. We each have our own beliefs, most of them being some odd form of christian wiccans while I consider myself just pagan. I've been learning off and on more seriously in the past year. I still have to look up meanings for most of the minor arcana, it's very frustrating that they won't stick in my head! Here are my decks! -wild unknown: never connected well, but adore the art. Kinda rude to me actually... It was my first though. -mystical manga tarot deck: I got it as a joke but actually adore it. I connect very well with it, surprisingly. Art is beautiful. My second favorite. -the reigning rouge: for some reason having a hard time connecting. Haven't had it long, however. -lovely omens: LOVE this deck, things come through very clearly and it doesn't doesn't tease me like some others. Readily gives me concise answers. Frustrating that it's the one I connect best with as it's a pip deck.... I usually hate pip decks, not even considering my problem with learning the minor arcana!
Rupicapra Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 Hi Ellen, welcome 😄 I feel the same about the Wild Unknown! I love the art, but zero connection!

It's odd, it was right up my alley at the time and it had amazing reviews so I went for it. It just seems like there's a block with that one and when I do get something to come through it mocks me a lot, just not a good fit lol. Or maybe I'm too much if a wuss for that particular deck 😂
stephanelli Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 Welcome to the forum! I've recently got the Wild Unknown and I'm finding it really intuitive and gives me clear advice - but I have to approach with the right attitude, I've learnt so far that it'll tell me whatever it thinks I need and it's not afraid to give me a hard reading. (That terrifying Nine of Swords is becoming increasingly common in my daily draws 😲) But you aren't the first person I've heard to say they've struggled to read/connect with it.
ShadowMoon Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 I really thought I was the only one just unable to connect to The Wild Unknown... it's a beautiful deck, but I just cant seem to build a rapport!
Will Posted July 17, 2020 Posted July 17, 2020 Welcome to the family, Ellen! Interesting that most of your family are "some odd form of christian wiccans" - I consider myself Christian/a Christian witch, personally, and it's always sort of fascinating to be reminded that there are other people out there in somewhat similar spiritual bubbles. I don't know how I'd connect with Wild Unknown myself (it's on my 'want' list, but I haven't picked it up yet), but I know my Otherkin Tarot deck loves to poke fun at me and be difficult. I've learned over the past couple of months that if I want kindness and a balanced, measured approach in the reading, my Linestrider deck is the way to go. If I want to be told what I need to hear, the Otherkin Tarot has my back. Maybe connection is partially a matter of using the right deck for the right job?

So far my lovely omens deck has been the most eager. It practically tosses cards at me like it's excited to tell me. Like it's a teenage girl who can't wait to spill the latest gossip to her friend lol. The interesting thing is that they do EVERYTHING according to the wiccan rede, follow all the correct "rules", believe in all kinds of pagan ideals, live by the rule of three, and even do SPELLS for Pete's sake, but they don't acnowledge they're anything but christian lol. it's their business anyways, I suppose.
