Hope you're all doing good.

I'm beginning to dip my toes into magick and tarot.

Tarot is just calling my name.

Anyone have a suggest of what deck I should buy first? Aside from the classic Rider Waite.

Take care!

Hello @FoxyLion

There are so many tarot decks out there, but is there a specific art style you’re looking for? Check out this site to see which deck you’ll like.

Hello :3

Not necessarily. 3 decks did catch my eye: The Light Seer's, Oraculum Leviathan: Draconian Tarot Deck, and The Darkness of Light.

What are your favorites? That site has some cool themes!

I personally like the cartoony whimsical theme. My main 3 are Tarot of the Sweet Twilight, Joie de Vivre tarot, and Phantasmagoric Theater Tarot.

Hi and welcome! 😊

About which deck to start with... The boring answer is to go with the Rider-Waite-Smith deck. With it you can learn all the symbolism and understand all the depths that the cards might have. Also there are tons of resorces free online and in books.

That being said, I have to admit that I never followed this advice. 🙈 I chose a RWS based deck but I wanted cards that speak to me. If you wish to go with RWS based deck there are many great options for beginners. The Light Seer’s Tarot that you mentioned is one of them (at least in my opinion). My first deck was Everyday Witch Tarot and I loved it (and still do). Others that I have heard to be good for beginners are The Robin Wood Tarot, Gilded Tarot and Morgan Greer Tarot. There are of course many more.

Hello @FoxyLion welcome to the TT&M Family! What helped me to select decks is go on Youtube and search for Unboxing Tarot Decks. You will find a lot of people showing you each card in each deck. For me it is important to 'like' the artist work. And then of course the TT&M created its own deck which is very pretty 😉
