This week I'll be using the Circle of Life Tarot, another new arrival.   Round cards are always interesting.   🙂

Oooooh VGimlet, I hope you will post pictures, I'm very curious.  Although since I've acquired 9 decks in the two months of my return to tarot, I might have to go camp out at the de-enabling thread...

I'm in for the entire month of October with the Tarot of Sweet Twilight.  It's a beauty!  I'm afraid I'm now in search of a second copy for my teen.

I love hearing these stories about your teen acquiring decks 😄 They seem like a natural reader!! That’s so cool!!

I will be using the Otherkin Tarot this coming week! A long awaited acquisition.

i actually broke out my Normal deck today because I was intending on doing a 7 card study over the course of the week. the whole thing was p rushed, but i did get to pull the cards.

the deck itself is v easy to read bc its meant to be read as a whole spread instead of individually lmao like the cards were p positive, up until the empty throne, which kinda threw the whole thing into a different light. tbh its probably my favorite deck bc its so easy for me to read, but also in my general inability to get the cards out, i forgot how political it tends to get. its v big picture i think (or at least, i havent figured out how to read it on a smaller scale yet >w> )

ill post the card meanings tomorrow bc im rly tired and thats seven cards i gotta define rip

Hello all,

thanks for the new thread, @VGimlet!

Welcome to the Deck of the Week @vague-whisperings. I had not seen the Normal deck before. It reminds me a bit of the Morgan Tarot or the Postcards from the Liminal Space.

It is fall weather extraordinaire here, rain and wind, almost blew me off the street just now, as I was carrying home the groceries.

My decks for the week are the Prisma Visions Tarot and the Everyday Witch Oracle.

Happy readings and may it be a blessed week for you.

I'm in this week with the Cosmic Cycles Tarot paired with the Magic Neko Deck. I'm a bit bummed about my new Cosmic Cycles; the lady who sent it out put it in an oversized plastic envelope with no protection so the box got banged up and some of the cards were bent. Sent an email to her about it.

Welcome @vague-whisperings to the DoW group! Thanks for posting some pictures of your deck - I've never seen that one before.😊

This week I'll be using the Cosmic Cycles Tarot, co-created and self-published by Martina Razo (author) and Miriam E.G. (illustrator). Paired with it will be Stasia Burrington's self-published deck, Magic Neko. Today's draws are the Wheel of Fortune and the Seven of Hearts:

wheel%2Bof%2Bfortune.jpgseven%2Bhearts_0002.jpg
When we understand that karma is based on volition, we can see the enormous responsibility we have to become conscious of the intentions that precede our actions.
—Joseph Goldstein

Karma is neutral like gravity; both Hitler and Gandhi could walk off a ten-story building and they'd both go splat when they hit the ground. Humans, of course, judge karma to be good or bad based on the fall-out from their actions. They don't realize that their intentions create a response, which may be skillful or unskillful, and that response will trigger a reaction or consequence. This young girl has won some tickets that she thinks will change her fate. Sorry chickadee, but you'd be better off looking at your habitual patterns and making some different choices if you want something more than a temporary fix. The Seven of Hearts is associated with open-heartedness, a needed quality to embrace when we actually see how our pattern of choices has created much of our reality. There is no need for self-pity or self-flagellation, but self-compassion would be of benefit. The seed of happiness grows within us, and it can be nurtured each moment regardless of whatever else is happening.

sorry about not posting the meanings sooner!! We've been busy all weekend :V

from left to right:

Third of Autumn
    • The fruits of labor long passed, the rewards of preparation
This card is about long repetitive tasks that are perfected with practice. Failure here is not the end, as attempts are numerous and encouraged.

Eighth of Summer
    • Nervous energy before an event
This is the excitement before something fun that is found in its preparation. It's the kitchen before a feast, the restless night before a trip, that feeling of anticipation.

Seventh of Spring
    • Temporary solace
A time to rest and take inventory of the positive. The world can be harsh and negative confirmation bias can be difficult to overcome.

Suicide King
    • The intimate nature of tragedy
This is the focused effect of tragedy how you react to events, how you feel about them, etc. It's important to consider the present, as well as the effect that a tragedy has had on you in the past.

Summer Mother
    • The ability to create for better or worse
This is very specifically about actions in the midst of emotion and their ripple effect on relationships and your world. Actions are inherently permanent, and actions made in the heat of emotion can cause unneeded damage.

Full Moon
    • Height of power and adrenaline, the hunt
The card of the Hunt. The best time to attempt the impossible is now. There won't be a better time to defeat or find someone. The chance for success is high.

The Empty Throne
    • A world out of balance
An empty throne is emblematic of a power struggle. The powers that be- government or otherwise- are fighting, and there isn't anything that can essentially be done. At the end of the day, it is more about survival than the struggle.

The first time I read this, I thought of it in a political sense. The political climate is changing, being an election year, paired with drifting beliefs within the culture, and the Empty Throne came in the wake of Trump's Covid announcement. But on thinking about it for a few days, as well as receiving another reading in a trade, I can see a more personal thread in it. I find it similar to the reading I received, but both are just as vague as the other. In the context of personal growth and achievement, I don't know where I should be focusing my efforts. I think the specific target of my focus will be the subject of another reading here in the next week.

I did a second, smaller reading, in hopes that it would help me figure out what I needed to focus on.

20201005_094539.thumb.jpg.7675e6212ce6302b5fd42b6058de5d6b.jpg

Knights fight, so this is a conflict.

The Spring Knight I sleeps, or is thought to be sleeping. It's almost always a trap and is there to lure you into a false sense of security; he is tricky. If the knight is awake, then the fight will include a dirty, underhanded first strike. If he is asleep, then it is an advantage you have gained. It's essentially taking a gamble.

The Summer Knight II is locked in a battle; the knight is pinned, but his cause is justified. It's what gives him the strength to keep going, even though is seems as if he's losing. Thus, is it better to fail at fighting, knowing it's the right thing, or to recognize a losing battle?

I think that this pair is telling me to focus on my values, which is. Hmm. Applicable to many aspects of my life currently.

Also I dont think im necessarily doing the study thing right but i do appreciate you guys just letting me Say things here lmao its been a lot of fun getting to practice with my deck more and this has been a good way to do that uwu

What a beautiful deck, @vague-whisperings.  I love the pictures!

My Otherkin is gorgeous and the readings are uncanny.  Even the one-card pulls!  Also, the newer Llewellyn cardstock is pretty snappy.  (I like the old Llewellyn cardstock just fine, too.)

This is the last reading of the week and I'm very pleased I was able to study my Normal deck for a bit. I think I managed to burn myself out though, so I'm probably going to take a breather after this and stick to dice readings (which is why the pictures are a bit different from normal) u_u

So! The last reading.

460623895_FinalReading.thumb.png.f25a66721b54c4e68b30da70de3e9b60.png

The Drowned King

This king has attempted to conquer the sea and had his life claimed by it. It is the hubris that comes from attempting more than you can manage, and the consequences of being overwhelmed. His death wasn't malicious, though, just an unfortunate incident that comes with the danger of seafaring.

Nine of Summer
In this deck, Summer is the season of passion and emotion. While typically this is positive, the Nine is the negative. There's only so far and so fast one can go without resting, and now, in this case, I am definitely reaching that point.

Waning Crescent
The Waning Crescent comes at the end of the lunar cycle. It is the card of realization and knowing that only comes at the end of things. It's essentially the You Don't Know How Much You Miss It Until It's Gone card. But, despite the finality of that comes with it, there is a hint that whatever you are leaving may come back, a little cheeky wink that says it's not entirely over yet.

There's obviously a connotation of burnout throughout this set of cards. I've been struggling with my schoolwork and general motivation, but I think it also is appropriate to the end of this study, as I've said above. There's also a bit of a gradient throughout the spread as well, with the use of white and black shifting. The Drowned King is dominated by white light, and the Waning Crescent is almost entirely black, and I find that appropriate to the overall message. The Waning Crescent is especially relevant as I'm definitely going to work more with the Normal Tarot since I had a lot of fun with it this week!
