Page of Ghosts Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 This deck looks very interesting to me. Does anyone here read with it? Benebell Wen did a review on her blog recently: https://benebellwen.com/2017/11/08/art-oracles-by-katya-tylevich-and-mikkel-sommer-christensen/#more-10202
EmpyreanKnight Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 I like this one a lot! I think it would perfectly complement the Art of Life Tarot, and it's hella cheap.
gingerblue Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 I have it- if you want to read with it in a serious way, it's a little tricky unless you know and/or are willing to do research on a lot of the artists presented on each card. The info on the cards and the LWB both which refer very much to famous moments/pieces in the artists' careers, so unless you understand what the little one sentence is referring to, the info on the cards won't make sense. I enjoyed the cards because I wound up searching a bunch of the artists and history to refresh my memory and make sense of all the different imagery, pithy sayings, and and "stuff" this deck offers. But as an art historian, I love this deck- so creative and fun. It's not my favorite deck in its design and style, but it's a clever oracle system and is a great kick in the pants for a quick draw or before sitting down in my art studio.
Queen of Nothing Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 I have a mighty need. Glancing through the review and the cards she posted, I'm suprised by how many artists I recognize??? I didn't realize I knew so much art history. I like to combine tarot with my academic interests, so I think I'll be picking this up soon. I love art and art history, and I often approach tarot with a visual culture analysis, so tbh, this is right up my alley.
Page of Ghosts Posted December 1, 2017 Author Posted December 1, 2017 I don't mind having to look up each artist to understand them better but I guess I'd have to stick to smaller spreads or single card draws because I worry it would be a bit much to read up on a lot of them at the same time. Most of the artists here I've at least heard of so that's a good start!
