NA01 Posted January 10, 2021 Posted January 10, 2021 Lately many creators have decided to create tarot deck in their own way. There are too many that don't follow any of the traditional tarot systems. Some examples that I can think of are the Mary El Tarot and Osho Zen Tarot are some examples. What would those types of tarot called? They can't be oracle cards because they are constructed as a 78 card deck with the 22 Majors and 56 minors, but it's not really a traditional tarot since some of the titles are changed around. Is there any work that describes those types of decks?
Decan Posted January 10, 2021 Posted January 10, 2021 I don't own the Mary El and the Osho Zen so I can't speak about them. Nevertheless concerning the Mary El I regularly read that it is a deck which stays "silent", so apart the art (which some can like or not, but there is artistic talent I think) for a divination tool it doesn't seem a great choice... It's the risk when a creator wants to create something new regarding a divination tool. The result can be nice (at best) but it can stay "silent" in a reading, and so not working 🙁 Not for every new decks (I guess??) but it's really a risk!
