One more week with my beloved Mary-el, but I'll also add the Music Oracles deck for the last week.

I hope to bond with my own copy of the Mary-El this year, @VGimlet 🙂 It is encouraging to see your dedication to it!

This week, though, the Daniloff is calling my name. 💙

I think I'll spend a week with my Everyday Tarot set.  I intend to spend a week with Ghost Tarot as well, but as I'm just nearing the end of a week with another Lo Scarabeo deck, I think I'll shake things up and go with Everyday Tarot for this coming week.

Hello my friends,

I love this thread, but I don't tend to shift decks very frequently.  So I am going to jump in anyway, because I love the conversation.  This week I worked once with the Rohrig, and I'd forgotten how much I enjoy this deck.  Some of the risqué bits are a little over the top, but it's still a gorgeous deck.  I prefer the version where I trimmed off the keywords, because the images really pop without borders.  And sometimes it takes a little detective work to figure out which card is what.  I think to celebrate the fun rediscovery of this deck I am going to offer a couple readings with it.

Thanks everyone for sharing the decks you explore - I learn so much!

I'm in this week with the Wheel of Change Tarot paired with Oracle of Dreamtime. Hope all of the DoWers have a great week!

I definitely want to hear about this too.  I have a Prisma Visions set, but I paid through the nose for it, so that's a great one to win.  It was definitely worth it in the end, but there are so many decks that are bloody expensive.  I didn't know there was some kind of sweepstakes going on.

Another John Bauer week but I also will have to do a couple of readings via Zoom and will use the Greenwood and the Medicine Cards for these....

I'm in with Lo Scarabeo's CatTarot and the Awakened Soul Oracle.

We've had record snow these past couple of days, quite a sight!

Wishing everyone a wonderful week.

you aren't using the proper colored candle. Or you have the right candle, aren't using it properly.

PayPal me $$$, I can fix that 🙂

VG...error error (remember the original star trek episode with those words?)

In doing my annual inventory, I realize it isn't Prisma Vision I won and will be using it is The Wild Unknown. sorry!

Of course I remember that Star Trek episode.   (I can almost quote entire episodes, LOL)

No sorry needed - fixed!

This week I'll be using the Wheel of Change Tarot, a deck and book set created by Alexandra Genetti and published by Inner Traditions. The second deck I'll be drawing from is the Oracle of the Dreamtime, a compilation of Australian Aboriginal art and Dreamings by Donni Hakanson; this deck and book set was published by Journey Editions. Today's cards are the Two of Disks and Frilled-neck Lizard:

two%2Bdisks.jpglizard_0002.jpg

Genetti shows the orbital balance of Earth and Sun kept in check by gravity. What tethers us and keeps the many dimensions of our life from throwing the other parts out of line? A laser-like focus held for too long (on our life or someone else's) will create imbalance and be a detriment to our well-being. As the Dhammapada implores, "Let one not neglect one's own welfare for the sake of another, however great. Clearly understanding one's own welfare, let one be intent upon the good." The legend of the Frilled-neck Lizard is an example. The land was in a period of great drought and all the animals argued about what to do. No one listened to the lizard who just happened to be a rainmaker. Filled with frustration and self-righteous anger, he brought a storm that destroyed many living things. Yet what might have happened had he calmed himself instead of acting out rage? He might instead have sent a steady, gentle rain and become a hero rather than a brutal punisher.

Wow, what a brutal reading! But so necessary 🙂 I love how your card combinations always seem so synchronous. Inspired deck pairing, too!

Thank you, @vulprix💙 These two decks are some old favorites.

As expected, my week with Everyday Tarot has been pretty unassuming, but eventful.  I drew The Magician in its upright position before going to a job interview, where I think I performed alright.

I just performed a Past, Present, Future reading for the US, given how things are right now.  I got the Nine of Cups for the past.  This one probably signifies what the Trump camp likely perceived as "years of prosperity", though as the past applies to any point in time that is not current, it probably also likely refers to the Obama era for those who...weren't Trump supporters.  Either way, times  were certainly simpler for one group or another.  Now the US seems to be heading into a time of division and unrest, and that's to say nothing of the fact that COVID still needs to be effectively dealt with.

More interestingly, I got The Hanged Man for the present.  COVID times have certainly been a time of moratorium.  But, it seems there are so many people who hold strong political views that have blinders on, and can't see the full picture.  Maybe it's time for everyone to take the time to consider things from a different perspective.  Maybe only then will not only the US, but the rest of the world, be able to effectively move forward in unity.  I say that because I thankfully don't live in the US...but I'd also be lying if I said there hasn't been any effect whatsoever on politics in my country.

Finally, and most certainly applicable, I got Death in reverse for the future.  So, the US is definitely letting go of leadership that hasn't served it so well, so that it can embrace something greater.  Of course, the crowd that disagrees is clearly resisting that change every step of the way, and I doubt they will stop now that the transition of power has been completed.  That's still a positive card to have drawn, all things considered.

As for the deck itself, it provides an impressive degree of quality for the price.  Its card stock is decent, it has gilded edges, debunking the myth that gilding has to cost a lot, and it's not the mirrored gilding that quickly shows damage.  The guidebook is modest, but still far greater than the little white books that come with a lot of decks.  The box is of reasonable quality, all things considered.  This set travels far more easily than most.  The only real drawback is, the cards are smaller.  But, I'd highly recommend this deck to a budget-conscious Tarot reader, or someone who wants to get into Tarot but doesn't want to spend a ton on their first deck.

I still think the design is a bit on the feminine side, but its three-coloured imagery has grown on me.  It is a RWS clone deck, albeit one that's very much about simplicity.  So, it's easy to read, and is far more beginner-friendly than a lot of other decks I own.  The subjects of the images appear more abstract, but any characters portrayed are still clearly human.  Some images that originally depicted a man have been replaced by a female subject, but the heart of the imagery remains unchanged.  Also, the three colours are often switched around, including those used for the characters, which gives at least the impression of racial diversity among them.  So, I'd also recommend this set for those looking for a diverse deck.  All in all, it's not the most exciting set, but it definitely ticks off a lot of boxes given how low the cost is.

I think I must have taken off a sticker when I got my Everyday Tarot set.  I noticed last night that in a spot with sticker residue, the outside of the box had a bit of a tear in it, exposing the white interior.  As it looked terrible, I decided to try using a purple washable felt to make it look somewhat better.  While it was an improvement, I accidentally got some on the face of The Empress featured next to it.  I then tried to use a wet paper towel to try and take the portion on her face away.  I smudged it instead and accidentally created what I think looks a bit like the Empress has a more defined face now though, so I think it looks alright.  It’s certainly better than a lot of art I created on purpose.  I guess that's an ok way to end my week with this deck.

Yes, it is.  The box is definitely nicer than most, but it's worth noting it's not indestructible.  Oh well, I guess that sets my set apart from the many others just like it that are mass produced.
