Not new to Tarot but new to the community

Hey there, I've been doing readings for myself (and rarely for a friend) for I guess around 8 years now, but I've never really had anyone to talk to about it. See, I'm an atheist (which isn't the same as being non-spiritual, just not believing in deity stuff!) and a 20 year old man, so in terms of my friend groups I really don't have people I can talk to about this stuff, I know most of my friends would laugh or be indifferent. The rest just kinda aren't into this kind of stuff. I decided to come here to ask for help with interpreting readings and some of the cards that are more confusing to me, but also just for the vibe and community. The past few years I was really embarrassed about reading Tarot and I thought it would actually be a really good idea to get over some of that shame and self-hate, especially since it actually has helped me, my readings for the most part have been accurate, and occasionally been therapeutic for me in rough times. So yeah, I hope to learn a lot and meet folks here! I especially like finding and making new spreads to work with, so if you have any you really like or wanna share do tell!

Welcome! You’ll find that on this forum, we are all different in some ways, and alike in others. That’s what makes this place so lovely and colorful. You’re definitely not the only atheist/non-deity-believer here. I personally think that if something, like tarot, proves to be beneficial and meaningful to us, then it’s not a matter of ‘believing’ or not. I also feel that as I age, I care less and less about having to explain/justify (even to myself) why something is valuable to me. My philosophy on that is ‘you do you, and I will do me’ 🙂

Hi @Mouse_in_the_Sun - and welcome to the forum! When i started doing Tarot (as a 30 year old man) I didn't have anyone in my circle of friends either to talk about it, so I was very happy back then to have found like minded people to practice and exchange and learn on the Internet. And then over time I came out as a Tarot reader to more and more friends, and now I often read for them, and to some friends I gave decks so they started reading as well, or at least being interested in it. Hope you'll have a great time here!

Hello and welcome here. I recently joined as well and I am loving this forum. Like you, I am spiritual but have never been able to connect to a deity. As said, we are all different. It is your journey after all.  I hope you enjoy it here as much as I do!

Welcome!

You will find a really supportive and sympathetic group of people here.   We're such a diversity of ages, nationalities, ideologies and faiths.  This place feels like one of the few safe harbors left on the Internet to have open, friendly dialogue on any topic.  I do a lot more work with tarot as a self-empowerment, self-help tool than traditional divination these days and it is really making a difference in my own life.  It helps me look in the mirror and see a more accurate picture than what my inner adversaries whisper is there 🙂
