VGimlet Posted February 12, 2021 Author Posted February 12, 2021 (edited) Hanging with the Prairie again this week. Coldest week of winter so far, the possibility of lots of snow in the forecast and guess what happens? The furnace dies. AND when the guy takes out the old furnace, he discovered the company that re-did our water pipes this summer cut a 12" hole in the heating duct right under the furnace, so the furnace was heating underneath the house, before it was heating the house. It still needed replacing, it did actually quit working, and it was so old the furnace guy didn't even want to repair it because of the corroded wires, LOL. So now we have to wait for the water pipe guys to come and look and fix the pipes (and repair the giant hole, please and thanks) before we can get the new furnace. Murphy's law, right??? HAH. I have a feeling THAT'S what the Prairie meant about the three of hearts (ed. SWORDS! It was SWORDS!) for the week ahead.... Luckily we have space heaters, lots and lots of blankets, and big furry dogs. We were both laughing, because REALLY??? The good news is we are getting a heat pump, so we will actually have both heat AND AC in the summer, and it will be way more efficient than the 40 year old furnace. I hope things get done quickly! This week I plan on working with the Joie de Vivre Tarot.
Amberjune Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 sounds like you are having a quite the Mercury Retrograde experience, @VGimlet, but it's great that everything is coming into order, glad you have plenty of blankets and space warmers!! It is below freezing were I live as well, with a biting cold wind, the sun is out and I enjoy being cozy at home. My decks are the Brady Tarot 2nd edition and the Magic of Flowers Oracle, a deck I love and have completely forgotten about!
Bodhiseed Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 @VGimlet - I'm so sorry to hear about the furnace and pipes. But your ability to look at life lightly (a sense of humor) will certainly help you 'weather' this unexpected situation. Every time our unit has gone out, it seems to pick the hottest weeks of summer or the coldest weeks of winter! Glad you all will get to enjoy both heat and AC though. ❤️ I'm in this week with the Anna K Tarot paired with Meditation Cards.
AJ-ish/Sharyn Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 a 40 year old furnace needs replaced anyway (but never as an emergency!) They are SO much more efficient now. I have a wonderful infrared space heater I bought for the 5th wheel, keeps all the condensation down, but use it here at the desk in the winter. We have about 3 inches of snow down here, but the easy to shovel kind. No ice on it 😉 haven't decided on a deck yet
Mi-Shell Posted February 13, 2021 Posted February 13, 2021 We do have about 3 feet of snow in the ground and it currently - 9.30 pm is - 26 centigrade - luckily outside. It is supposed - 34 with the wind chill factor.... This week I will keep warm with the Light Seer's Tarot, which seems to have become my "pandemic deck"!?! I will have to think about, why this is......
VGimlet Posted February 13, 2021 Author Posted February 13, 2021 (edited) So, the heat is back on, which is good because we're getting a lot of snow at the moment. But the third sword (it was the three of swords not hearts - obviously the cold was getting to me...lol) ....my computer died yesterday. Hopefully not dead - as in all my files - but maybe. 😱 I am supposed to work from home Sunday, luckily I'm off Monday for the holiday. So I have a day to get it fixed and then another day to try and fix it, and I don't have to work from home again until Thursday. On the good side, my husband's non-work computer is available, and I have all my work log ins saved where I can get to them. So, I won't be without a computer, and I'll be warm. I am hoping this is the end of the cycle that started on March 13th last year, and this will be the last of it. My cards today said I needed to be patient, and not freak. This is not easy. Stay warm all of you DOTW folks - and our lurkers too. 🙂 Or cool, depending on your hemisphere. Edited February 13, 2021 by VGimlet
AJ-ish/Sharyn Posted February 13, 2021 Posted February 13, 2021 Greenwood for me this week, thank you VG, glad the heat was sorted out.
Bodhiseed Posted February 14, 2021 Posted February 14, 2021 This week I'll be using the Anna K. Tarot, created and self-published by Anna Klaffinger (though now published by Llewellyn). Along with it, I'll be drawing from the Meditation Cards, a deck created and self-published by Asha Greer. All the keywords and quotes for these cards have been added by me. Today's draws are the Ace of Pentacles and Harried Mind: The thrill of an unexpected gift or opportunity is nearly always welcome, whether it's a bonus check, a paid vacation, or an addition to one's family (pet or person). How will we spend our time, energy or money with its arrival? It often brings more questions and quandaries rather than answers. The quote for Harried Mind might provide a guide post: Peace and clarity arrive through understanding patterns and the underlying nature of our minds, rather than through stopping our thoughts, achieving some special state, or having a particular experience. —Oren Jay Sofer Pausing, finding stillness and quiet, can help slow the busyness of the mind long enough to sort the wheat from the chaff. And it gives us a chance to take the advice of Guillaume Apollinaire: "Now and then it's good to pause in our pursuit of happiness and just be happy."
