JesseMcGatha Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 Hello lovely people! I am currently running a Kickstarter campaign for my roleplaying game, Everway. Everway uses an oracle deck (called the Fortune Deck) as a component in gameplay. It is, however, quite a beautiful and diversely-inspired oracle deck that can be used independently of the game, and has received accolades from many people experienced in tarot and esoterica. It is quite reasonably priced at $30 for stunning full-color art. The campaign is running until March 5, 2021 at 9pm PST. Would love for folks here to have a chance to see this beautiful deck and hear your feedback. The campaign page is quite busy with information about the roleplaying game, but you can pledge for the "tarot" level (yes, those who know better will properly call it an oracle deck) to get a copy. About the Deck The deck has 77 cards, split into two groups, which function essentially as the major and minor arcana of the deck. The major arcana has 36 cards and is called the Fortune Deck and is arranged as a pyramid, with 8 cards in a set, followed by 7 cards, in a set, and so on up to 1 card, the usurper or variable force unique to the querent. Each rank of the pyramid has a named theme and represent different related ranges of forces. The minor arcana has 41 cards and is called the Season Deck. It is arranged in 4 suits of 10 cards each, with each corresponding to one of the seasons. Each rank of these season cards corresponds roughly to the rank meanings of the tarot minor arcana but themed around the Hero's Journey A final card, The Heavens, represents the larger forces that affect the querent. As you can see from the pictures attached, some amazing artists have made these cards rich with meaning and intriguing details. To be inviting to new readers, elemental, zodiac, and planetary correspondences as well as basic upright/reversed meanings have been included on the cards as well. If you have thoughts I would love to hear them, and would be very happy if anyone wanted to back the deck on Kickstarter. Thanks!
Saturn Celeste Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 @JesseMcGatha Your premise for the game is really interesting! You say you have 77 cards but they parallel to a tarot deck also, so a tarot deck has 78 cards, what one of those cards are missing from your deck?
JesseMcGatha Posted March 11, 2021 Author Posted March 11, 2021 (edited) The Season Deck ranks parallel the tarot minor arcana meanings, but only 10 cards per season. So it is very much sits somewhere between an oracle deck and a typical tarot deck. Edited March 11, 2021 by JesseMcGatha Typo
Saturn Celeste Posted March 16, 2021 Posted March 16, 2021 I use this deck and love it! The Illuminated Tarot It is set up like playing cards with 53 cards in the deck, so some cards are different but it works very well. Also the Psychic Tarot is called a tarot deck but it is actually an oracle deck but this is a great deck to read with as well. Your artwork on the Everway deck is gorgeous!
