Grizabella Posted April 4, 2021 Posted April 4, 2021 I'll share something that happens a lot with me now that I've learned to hear that little elusive voice in the cards. I was looking through my new Forest of Enchantment deck awhile ago and as I came across the Seeker of Boons, suddenly it flashed into my mind "metal detecting." Okay, okay---I know some will think me nuts. But the picture shows a woman who is bending down as if to pluck something at the base of a tree. The Queens in this deck are called Seekers and Boons represent Pentacles which represent coins among other things. People who metal detect and hunt for treasure are often looking for and finding coins, along with other treasures. I enjoy watching metal detecting and magnet fishing videos on Youtube so the voice of the cards spoke to me with that association. For the longest time when I first started learning the cards, my own voice in my head was so loud and tense, trying to get it "right" and learn all the book meanings and---and---and---- Well, you probably know how it goes. But once I learned to relax and not make such a crisis out of it, then it started working. Then the little voice of the cards could speak to me and I'd hear it like I did tonight. I used to read "just open your mouth and start talking" when writers were giving advice on how to do readings. It would go right over my head. I'd be thinking, "Oh sure, sure, easy for you to say. Won't work for me though." I'd read forum posts where experienced readers were able to bring a reading right into the present and see things about their sitter's actual life instead of giving readings using "this card means this and that card means that" platitudes and I'd be sure I'd never, ever get to that point I saw these readers had arrived at. You know those threads that ask for people to list what cards they've had for what things in their readings? I'd read those on forums and think "I'm never going to remember all this." So I'd write the answers down that people gave but there's no way I could remember them all even if I tried. Or that anyone else could for that matter, I'm sure. Let me comfort those of you who think they need to memorize those things other people saw in cards. You don't have to do that. You just have to learn to relax and then that little voice will get through to you when you're going through your cards just looking at them and more importantly, when you're reading the cards. But do read those threads where someone has asked for what other readers have seen in particular cards. Everything you read there is going to go into what I call "the vault" and it will pop out at the right time somewhere along the way just when it should. Just relax, open your mouth, and start talking. 😉
