And I can admire the work of all three artists without feeling the need or desire to possess everything.

This. If I was a collector I would have purchased this (although I do not recall ever seeing it). But I do not collect cards. I don’t criticise anyone who does. These days, if I don’t read with it I move it on.

I favor that style, too. The landscape gives hints ("many trees", etc.) but it doesn't get in the way.

Yes. That is something I find quite interesting in the newer decks. Few put in the trees or a ship on the Boat, the Fishes and the Anchor. But it was a common feature on the older patterns and help one remember the connection (many trees, enterprise and finances). There is quite a few of these old motifs that are no lost.

She's kind of a Santasima Muerte/Virgen de Guadalupe hybrid, isn't she? I'm not sure if he meant to reference Santa Muerte, or just fit the Virgin to the theme of the deck. And although either can be petitioned for things that relate to stability, it seems Iike an odd choice. I get the impression that he chose that image simply because the crescent moon that the Virgin stands on is reminiscent of an Anchor's shape. It seems odd to have such a holy image on this particular card.

At first I thought it was Our Lady of the Seafarers. But on looking, there seems to be a few of these pendants with the Virgin de Guadalupe.

It is not an obvious association. Edmund did his homework. I can see the hope connection (Our Lady of Hope Novena, &c). But I don’t know.

The Wanderwust landed in Heathrow in the early hours of this morning. Providing customs do not hold it too long (should be exempt) it might be here by Saturday.

Aha! They've added her to a mariner's cross. I should have known those existed.
Still, it's a little close to the Cross card. I can see the cross behind her on your link. It forms the top of the anchor.
It's more obvious with the Jesus ones:

Yes. It's sad.
Things like that are what make Lenormand interesting, but few seem to care. 😫

Yes. It does sort of blur the two, doesn’t it?

It is what has kept me fascinated for so many years. The folklore, the code-like qualities, and so on.

When I first started learning, I never thought much of the deck or that I would be using them all these years on. I wanted a tarot deck. But the cards have so many layers, that only open as time goes on. You’re constantly learning.

The Wanderwust arrived this morning. The came from the same printer that the Bünte did — so great quality. Very happy.

Hello @HOLMES

I am just on my way out but will post some pictures later.

Hi @HOLMES

This is the Wanderwust. It will be available from Wanderingoracle.com in the Summer. It comes with two Gentlemen and Lady cards.

The main images come from the C.L. Wüst which have been restored and tweaked with a B&W v. Colour contrast which I find extremely attractive.

The courts are from the Starslunder.

The backs are from an Hungarian deck I believe.

The cards are printed by Drive Thru Cards who use great card stock. They printed the Brepols deck I also received this week which also comes with two Gentlemen and Lady cards.

That and the Sun card are very striking. The picture does not do it justice .

The card’s were dispatched on the 6th and left Chicago yesterday, and were delivered today (UK). No custom charges.

Oh I like that one, I like the mostly grey and then just some a bit of color!

It's very nice. It reminds me of those colorpop photos that were around in the early 2000's. And it highlights the emblems themselves.

Yes; the printer is in Kansas. As said above, it is used by a few of the independent creators. In fact they printed both decks that came this week.  The card stock is fantastic (the printer offers more than one type, but the two types I have had are perfect).

Since Brexit, it has (sometimes) become quicker and cheaper to order from the States. I ordered something from France and had to pay £50. No customs for either decks.

Yes. I have a thing for black and white decks but do like the splash of colour — like in the tinted black and white silent films.

I always remember Lon Chaney’s Phantom when they added the red – the cover of that edition just had it on the cloak and it was so striking. There is something quite evocative in the contrast when done well.

That's THE edition to get. 😁 And Chaney's Phantom is still unsurpassed, AFAIC. He's evil yet sympathetic, totally human. He makes you think. The later Phantoms are all cheesy romance. Ugh.

Spielberg used colorpop to a gut-wrenchingly sad effect in Schindler's List: the little girl's red coat. It's a very effective technique, in the right hands.

Hi Holmes

I gave it above: www.wandering oracle.com

You will need to message him via the site, as the deck is out of stock until the summer.

Gee sure is beautiful and small.

I wish that is the deck they put into lenormand kits over the french cartmancy deck.  It is just more defined.

The French Cartomancy (a misnomer) is the “Dondorf,” and is the closest thing in Lenormand to a standard pattern.

It was produced in multiple editions,  and circulation more than any deck. There were Slavic and Arabic editions.

I like the Piatnik but I find the Key wonky. Have you settled on a deck? You will find choosing one as your main study quite helpful.
