This appeared in my google so i clicked it. I thought at first how it would based

On buying tarot decks, and books like my fellow tarotacholics understand.

Instead it is a worse addiction.. usually played for laughs in comedy shows like spencer kept following the 8 ball advice in icarley.

I think of the old lady in the manitou horror movie coming for a card reading but that was for really in my mind entertainment and social interaction

Here it is shared how consulted the tarot for everything overtime and how they moved away from it.

The attachment styles are interesting, There are some google rabbit holes to be explored there, but I think it's important to remember that google won't make you a therapist.
As for the article itself, yes, mindfulness is crucial with readings as well as life in general. Very simply: What's happening right now? Am I dying? No? OK, then.
And if I am, there's always the Bardo Thodol.
In the ultimate sense, there are no worries.

As someone with an anxious attachment style, and half a degree in Psychology (who has also undergone a lot of therapy) I find this super interesting.

There have definitely been times in my life where I have read excessively to try and understand a situation or find a way out of an impossible situation (that didn't involve me acting, of course).

However I no longer look to the cards to tell me concrete things about the future; rather I use them for introspection, and I am mindful of reading sparingly and thoughtfully even then. Apart from brief daily readings primarily for practice/study.

I think tarot, like anything, can be an addiction, and it is absolutely possible to lose your own agency in the world because you've given it over to the power of the tarot. I very much take the approach that although the symbolism is powerful, the cards themselves are just ink on paper. Their power comes from your insight into them, and the power you give them.

But that is just my opinion. I'm sure there are many others.

IME most people who are "addicted" to readings are actually obsessing on a person. "Will he call/text?" etc.
When the crush is over, the reading frequency slows down or stops altogether.

I am guilty of this. When things seem to be going swimmingly doubts don't creep up.  It's when things are confusing do I wonder and seek some guidance.

Hi all,

I've moved this topic to Tarot Talk & Technique which fits it much better I think 🙂
