vulprix Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 Hi y’all! Happy weekend! I’ll be working with the Paulina Tarot this week 🌸🐇
Madame Squee Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 Tarot of Light and Shadow comprises two full decks. I blended them after reading John Mathews' introduction and suggestions. Wow! What a stack! The cards are heavy and slick, and so nice to work with... Lots of calming shuffling and mixing. I love it!
Mi-Shell Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 VG ♥! I will spend another week with the Wheel of Change.
Bodhiseed Posted April 18, 2021 Posted April 18, 2021 This week I'll be working with the Sasuraibito Tarot, self-published by Stasia Burrington. I'll also be using Soul Cards 1 & 2, created by Deborah Koff-Chapin and published through her company, Center for Touch Drawing. The Soul Cards have no titles, so the ones given here are my own. Today's draws are the Five of Swords and The Gift: Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. ~Max Ehrmann Brag, pontificate, shock and stir-the-pot - these seem to be the main motives for people posting on social media these days. While looking for an obit of an acquaintance on Facebook this morning, I ran across a post by a relative who seemed to think that Asian American hate was something made up by liberals. My first thought was to add a few daggers to my own fingers and reply that his white male privilege was showing. But then I had to pause and ask myself, would that help and heal or inflame and cause more aggression? Such a comment would just show my own hostility and create more hatred. But how do I channel this energy in a healthy way? The Gift shows an angel-like figure giving a flower to a person whose world has gone dark. I too can offer unexpected kindnesses to those who are struggling. It may simply be by asking "How can I help?" It's surely a better alternative than trying to win a battle based on hatred. Aggression only moves in one direction - it creates more aggression. ~Margaret J. Wheatley

Thanks for the morning smile 🙂 I've thinned my deck herd many times over the years and what remains makes me SO happy, each week it is hard to choose, I love 'em all. Tree Wisdom Cards for me VG, thank you!

Madame Squee Posted April 22, 2021 Posted April 22, 2021 The Tarot of Light and Shadow ~ Matthews and Aste I love the stylized art and characters in these cards. The Knight of Swords is one of my favorites -- mainly because it took me a second to find him beneath his huge sword and the awesome festoon issuing from his helmet. The whole scene reminds me that it's not the size of the man in the fight that matters, it's the size of the fight in the man that makes the difference. Working with both decks mixed together this week has been interesting. I've learned that shadow cards aren't the opposite of their light counterparts. Instead, they represent something magical, strange, different, mysterious, a little off kilter, like the hissing serpent on top of the Knight of Swords' helmet and the spray of droplets from his sword. Not surprisingly, one of the aspects I enjoy most about this deck and book set is John Matthews' book. I'm always interested in learning how readers interpret pip cards, and this book presents a lot of traditional meanings that I'm completely unfamiliar with and thrilled to learn about. For example, here's the V of Cups: "The V of Cups traditionally represents the domain of home, ruled over by women and girls, just as the VI represents the world of men and boys." I puzzled over that statement for a minute, wondering whether there is some logical connection between the V of Cups and women and girls -- until the V sank in on me. Oh, I get it. Lol. Continuing... "As with all of the V cards in the decks there is a sense of powerfully driven endeavor, which may denote strength, change, and even, at times, struggle. For those involved in the production of crafts this is a strong card. The spatter of red from the middle cup of the light realm may be either wine or blood. "LIGHT READING "Someone is present who can offer hope to family members through consideration of past events. Sometimes the meaning is less positive, focusing on loss. But it is also about turning points, moments when the right decision may mean everything. "SHADOW READING "Themes emerge from these cups like trails of mist. Thoughts of fashion, clothes, thread-work and crafts like knitting. The imagery of sisterhood is present also, along with female affection and friendship. There may be factors to do with family and home that need careful consideration." Wow! This is all new to me, and I'm here for it!
