Traditional views and home office

Recommended Posts

Through time, I've noticed that the House card sometimes came to signify familiarity: a traditional world view, our individual confirmed habits, or certain traditions/customs.  Has it happened to you all?

Also, a friend asked me how would I portray, Lenormand wise, the expression home office. It got me puzzled, because it would depend on the question of the querent. House + Fish seemed to be a first option, but for a teacher, House + Book seems more appropriate. But, does anyone have another suggestion?

Sorry if I'm asking too much.

This is actually an interesting "problem" because the reason one works from a "home office" could be different. I'm thinking of the snarls of classifying work-from-home employees in the business world. Covid sent many people home, but they are still directed by a company/supervisor on their tasks. Are you a sole proprietor of your own business & self-directing your work? Would these types of things change the viewpoint?

As Lenormand is tremendously tailor-made, focused on the querent's context, I believe they do. What's your take on that, @legendaryelement?

I am far too "new" to the Lenormand at this point to venture a specific suggestion.

Wasn't there a thread on AT where people discussed some of the newer/modern technological associations for cards?

I need to peruse the Forum for that. Sometimes, I get lost in so many threads. Thanks for the suggestion.

But, have you ever thought about the House as being familiarity (and by contrast, a certain aversion to that which is unfamiliar)?

I have a personal hang-up about House/Home. My upbringing and observance of the older generation of women in the family had me running from all things domestic by my preteen years. The only thing I liked was watching the younger children. I was the oldest grandchild.  LOL

But, if Home/House extends to the realms where one is most comfortable and prefers to be/stay ... hmmm.

The cards don't really go into things like aversion or feelings in general unless you specifically ask.
And I'd be very careful of modern associations. Some of them are solid, like your vehicle for the Rider. But others are just things that people cooked up without learning the cards well first. Forum threads are generally a mix of these things.

As for home office, very basically you could go by the kind of work it is. If it's work you're known for, Moon + House; stable work, Anchor + House, etc. There might be additional cards making it a trio - Dog if the work is animal-related, etc. There's no one size fits all combo. Things show up in various ways.

I think home alone can stand for working from home.

Andy said not so much business opportunity , but how it can improve quality of life.  And lots of people dream of working from home before pandemic made them.

On the show love it or list it. Many of them work from home and seek to improve the working aspect so it is more comfortable.

And caitlin Matthew's mentions headquarters.

I picture in older times a big mansion where your jr(dallas) type  could make political dealings with old friends.

It is after all ruled by the king of hearts.

Course how it is going to go depends on other cards, possibly house it falks on.

I stand corrected. You're right, as usual.

That's it. Thanks!

Thank you, @HOLMES. I have problems getting Mrs. Matthews into the fold of my Lenormand studies, don't know why. I need to try to read her again, soon.
