How I got into tarot

Hello everyone! You can call me "Sun." So instead of writing a basic introduction, I decided to just share my story of how I became interested in Tarot and spirituality. About two years ago, I attended an art history course and met this classmate. We quickly became friends and aided each other in studying for exams and such. He was very much interested in tarot himself, so he offered to do some quick readings for me using his Dragon Tarot deck. I didn't have a personal reading from anyone until that point, and he fascinated me with the accuracy of his reading. The good thing was that he offered me "free readings," which was very generous of him. I felt inclined to return the favor by buying myself a deck. I had to do some research on how to acquire a new one, and yes, I came across various articles that debunked the myth of having someone gifting you a deck or else you will have bad luck or something. I even thought to myself, "Well, that's bummer for not having the ability to choose your own deck."

So I drove to Barnes and Noble and perused the Tarot shelf they had. Despite many attempts of avoiding its calling due to how "dark" its vibe was, I couldn't resist the temptation of the "Daemon Tarot" deck and purchased it. Back then, I didn't really know much about how the Tarot system works, so this deck was strenuous to use. Yet, I gave a few readings for my classmate, and they impressed him. However, I wasn't 100% invested in divination and Tarot until my boyfriend broke up with me after our 5-year relationship. I was devastated and heartbroken. I sought healing and comfort through meditation and positive affirmations books. I discovered a great deal about spirituality, and somehow, I discovered more about my planetary signs, life path number, and signs that I am a lightworker. I became more involved in discovering my true purpose in this lifetime, and it's like falling deeper and deeper into the rabbit hole of divination/spirituality.

That was the turning point of my life. To embark on this spiritual path and assist those in needs of comfort through positive thoughts and tarot readings. I guess the Universe wanted me to break free from that relationship and to focus more on my spiritual journey and purpose. I'm pretty sure that you all had a moment in your life where you thought, "This is what I was born to do," and it felt good. Heck, I even got my coworkers into tarot 😂. Now they have their own decks, and we exchange readings with each other nearly every day.

So this is my experience with tarot. It's quite a long one, but I hope you can relate it to your experiences. Please share yours and inspire others to do the same. Much love and light to you all 💖🙏🏻.

Hello @Nostrasonus11welcome to the TT&M Family :animated-smileys-signs-085: With me the calling to dive into Tarot / Spirituality has always been coming and going. Well I guess the calling was there when I first started to read but then I stopped again, started again and so on 😉 Sometimes it is more present in my life and sometimes it is less.

Looking forward to seeing you around.

Hi there and welcome fellow new user!

I totally relate to you about finding tarot after a breakup! When I was a teenager after my very first breakup I basically fell apart emotionally, and turned to tarot to soothe myself. I got pretty hooked, and found it to be such a source of comfort and inner wisdom! It's really helped me to strengthen my relationship to myself and others! You know what they say "tarot is the poor man's therapist!" I'm really looking forward to seeing you around and reading with you here! (If that's your cup of tea) *badum-psh* ;D

Hello MandalaMoons,

Thank you for your welcoming reply! My apologies for the delayed reply. I didn't receive the notifications from this post 😅. But yes, the breakup was the ultimate force that pushed me towards divination and spirituality. I think my ex would laugh at me for what I'm doing, but I don't really care. I now appreciate myself better than before. I even gave up gaming to focus on my spiritual practices, and it was the best decision ever!

Hello HOLMES,

Thank you for your welcoming reply! Yes, I did mention that I am owning about 50 decks in another post. They stack up like a mountain on my wooden drawer because I didn't want to remove the boxes 😂. The Daemon Tarot deck was the first deck that I owned. After that, I decided to explore into other options. I am now focusing on "lightworker" themed decks, so if you know any, let me know 😅

Hello DanielJUK,

Thank you for your welcoming reply! Yeah, it was an odd encounter 😅. But I guess part of that was I've always been fascinated with magic and fantasy since I was a kid, so him introducing tarot to me seemed... mystical, and it piqued my interest 😁

Hello @Nostrasonus11, nice to meet you! I totally relate to your story since I have quite similar story myself. It's not a breakup tho, but more of an affair with a married man that I believed at the time was my star-crossed lover. I was in that relationship for 4 years, despite being in pain everytime he was with his family. Tarot is my solace and for me to get advice... My best friend (the only person that doesnt judge me) that introduced me to tarot/oracle/lenormand. I've been lonely at the time since if I ever told someone about that relationship, they are just gonna told me to break up and I wasnt ready to at the time. I  am not with him anymore now tho, thank god. But I was so thankful for that experience that catapult me to the world of cartomancy/divination and as you said, a rabbit hole of everything spirituality-related.

@ShadowMoon i dont think I ever told you how I get into tarot..That's the story above 🙂

One thing that I learned from tarot-based group (or any spirituality-based group) is that being judged is so rarely heard 💙

Hello TheEmpress,

Thank you for sharing your story. I feel related to your story also. It's because I believe the Universe wanted you to go through that whole experience to learn something, but if you still haven't learned it, the cycle would continue. I'm glad you were able to have an ultimate revelation and choose to detach yourself from him and focus more on yourself. I'd suggest that you look into a book called "The Universe Is Talking to You: Tap into Signs & Synchronicity to Reveal Magical Moments Every Day" by Tammy Mastroberte. I just started reading it, but it's been eye-opening so far. Welcome to the community!
