Hello. I apologise if this is the wrong place to put this post but I was hoping for a little help. Back in the mid 2000s when I was a teenager I brought the Greenwood tarot deck, (by chance, I thought the illustrations looked beautiful) in a small local shop in my hometown. Anyway this deck is in near enough mint condition (missing the celephane as I opened it) does anyone have any idea of who I could talk to about the value of it, maybe I should keep hold of it, I don't know if the value will go up, anyway any advice appreciated. And apologies if this isn't what this forum is for, I don't know really who to go to about this! Many thanks in advance. L

Hi Lorna! I’m going to move this thread to our Tarot Decks section for you where hopefully others will be able to advise.

Please note that deck sales and trades through the forum are reserved for our paid subscribers, who have a dedicated section for this. You’ll need to subscribe if you decide you want to sell through the forum, but discussing deck values in and of itself without a subscription is fine. 🙂

One just sold on ebay for less than £500 (it was listed at £500 and sold for "best offer".  We can't tell what that was !) There's another up there for £950, getting no interest at all. I have seen them got for as little as $200 - it all depends on who sees the listing.

Mark Ryan is doing a very questionable reprint; few on this forum would buy it, but for those who don't know the history, it may not help with the value of an original. There are two on etsy at over £1000 - but there's no indication of what it has sold for there, or whether there's any interest.

One sold here for $300 2 years ago; a year earlier one sold for $500 - well, that's what it was listed at, but I don't know what the seller may have agreed to.

You might find this old thread interesting.

The sale price was falling at that time.

I wouldn't hold your breath for a huge windfall, myself.

@gregory What's the reason for the reprint being considered questionable? (I don't know anything of the history of this deck, so I'm curious; I saw one of Ryan's posts on a trading group on FB but that's all I know about it.)

Rather than hijack this thread we should probably continue this discussion here:

And for those who do facebook, there is a good amount of relevant information here:
https://www.facebook.com/Chesca-Potter-Art-Fan-Club-997732667081594

The fact is, Chesca is the artist and she conceived the deck. Mark Ryan did the calligraphy - so what?
Now, because Chesca has been AWOL for some years, he's doing a reprint. Until I see the artist's permission, I consider this a pirate deck. I don't care who prints it. It is what it is.

I hope everyone is aware that they can have a legit Greenwood for the price of printing.
