Guest Posted May 15, 2021 Posted May 15, 2021 I saw this group and I have the wildwood deck. So am wondering how it works, this study group and if it is still active?
Raggydoll Posted May 15, 2021 Posted May 15, 2021 I believe it is still active 🙂. Lets ping @Wanderer , he can surely give you more information !
Wanderer Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 Hi @Pink (and thanks for the ping, Raggy!), Â Â Great to hear you've been intrigued by the deck - it's a very polarising one, but for those that it reaches, it often ends up being their most treasured. Others can't stand it, or find they can't work with it... but it's well worth the effort to find out how you relate to it! Â Â The study group is technically still active, although not much has happened lately (mainly because I've been tied up with other things, and my Tarot has slipped a lot in the past few months ... but my life tends to do that, and I will come back to it when I can!). There were a couple of others who were getting involved a few months ago, but they seem to have gone quiet as well. Timescales don't matter, though - whatever you write can be read by people years later, and still be useful! Â Â Â So, basically... dive in. Have a good read, get familiar with the structure, and add your thoughts to some of the threads already there. You're welcome to start threads for cards that haven't been covered yet, but please try to follow the same format as the other ones, just to keep a sort of consistency. I've just realised that ShadowMoon has done that for a couple of cards, and I completely missed them! Ho-hum... will go have a read. Â Â Â Looking forward to your ideas, impressions and experiences!
Guest Posted May 18, 2021 Posted May 18, 2021 Hi @Wanderer, Â I joined the FB group as well and it has lots of info there to read and I have learned there is a book called A year in the Wildwood, which looks interesting to start of with. Allison Cross, who wrote the book said I do not need the book, but I did buy it as an addition to the deck, and I will start off with the spread: ask the Wildwood what it can do for me. Â Â

I've read extracts from the book, but haven't bought it, simply because by the time I knew of it, I felt like I'd diverged a little from Allison's approach and understanding of the cards, and wanted to develop my own thoughts independently. Decks are like that - when we really get into one, the meanings and significance develop from your own experiences. Everyone's understanding of the cards is right for them, and there isn't an absolute answer. We can all learn from each others' ideas, adopt the things that ring true for our own system of understanding, and not worry about the bits that don't. There are also the hidden layers that lie beneath the surface of the cards, which are sometimes referenced in readings, and sometimes not... so there is always benefit in being aware of the range of possibilities that they can express. The more possibilities the cards hold for you, the more diverse your insights can become in readings.      I'm looking forward to seeing what it tells you for that first experiment - that will be a good test of whether you can work well with it! 😎
Kristin Posted September 9, 2022 Posted September 9, 2022 I just joined the forums today and would LOVE to get active in this study group. The Wildwood has been my longest standing and most faithful deck. I just love it! I also trimmed the borders from mine and edged it in green to match the backs. It feels so special. 🥰
Rosa Posted September 18, 2022 Posted September 18, 2022 I always come back to this deck but use other decks as well. The study forum is quiet though so would not know where to begin to start and study the deck more.
