arlotar Posted May 22, 2021 Posted May 22, 2021 I'm really bad at introductions so I'm sorry in advance for the awkwardness! I'm really into psychology, philosophy and mysticism. When I discovered tarot it was love at first sight and since then, I've been using the cards consistently both for myself and for whoever would ask. But I'm introverted and really shy IRL so I don't have many people with whom I can discuss tarot at a larger scale, so here I am. It's my first time registering for a forum so I'm as green as it gets. I already have a good collection of decks. I'd like to make my own deck at some point so I draw and draw to get myself to a level where I actually like my art. I like to experiment with different spreads of my own making, though I've been reluctant to share them since they tend to be chaotic and hard for me to explain in a cohesive manner. I can't think of anything else right now... Thank you very much for reading my introduction!
HOLMES Posted May 22, 2021 Posted May 22, 2021 Welcome arolater Regarding spreads for years i believed a spread had to have positions . I especially relied on the old celtic. Over years on the defunct aeclectic forum. I tried differnt spreads, which gave me differnt readings like karma, past life. In fact caitlin matthews arturian companion book had some good psychology spreads in it back in the day. Then i moved on to spreads without positions like 3, 6, 9. Relying on inuition, and my build up story tellimg skills. So for you building order to you spreads. I would look up 3 cards spreads. Write down all the variations and try the interesting ones here in rrading exchange. Then try 5 cards. 7 csrds. As you try out all these spreads you are building up your skill to read in various way. Then your ability to make your spreads will only improve.
arlotar Posted May 22, 2021 Author Posted May 22, 2021 Hi! Thank you very much for your advice! I have also used the many spreads found on the aeclectic forum and found many that I liked. I don't have troubles making spreads per se, rather explaining them to an outside party is the difficult part. Mostly because I work primarily by instinct/intuition, and I find it hard to put into words just why I have structured the spread in this way or that way, positioning, beginnings and endings, etc. But I was never good at explaining things so I'm not very bothered by the fact. I just do my best and hopefully learn new things along the way!
