Pretzel Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 (edited) Does anyone else practice readings using the news or other TV shows? I decided to get short clips of news from YouTube rather than the TV. The point of the exercise for me was to do a quick few card pull - whatever jumped out during shuffling, without meditating on the cards or question. I thought I'd give it a try as I need to practice but don't have time this week for in-depth reads. When I practice, it's usually career/relationships type readings, so I was blown away by the different real-life meanings I found right away in the cards. Also noticing different things - e.g. the Fool's tunic I thought just had flowers on it, but next to the High Priestess it occurred to me that the flowers looked like the base of a Pomegranate (also one of the flowers looks like a pomegranate). This worked well with the fact that the news story revealed further in that the crime involved the 'underground world'. I'm kind of amazed and keen on doing more of this practice. Would love to hear if anyone else here practices this way. Edited June 10, 2021 by Pretzel typo
DanielJUK Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 I do like doing this. I have seen people do it to books or murder mystery / detective type TV shows, work out who did it before the end 🙂 I like doing sports predictions and also reality show predictions, trying to work out who will go through or will win. It's just for fun, it goes wrong, it goes right and I see if I can get better at it 🙂 I have done entire tournaments in the past. Practising using TV or film or books and also I do a daily card for myself daily is great for understanding what the cards really mean. Applying the cards in the situation has made me change my view of some cards so it's really good for learning I think. Using them as much as possible really helps you learn them
DownUnderNZer Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 I think it is a fantastic way to practice! I have tried it with cold cases a few times only not really with the Tarot. It works really really well actually! 👍👍👍 I remember lining up a YouTube video for one cold case in particular, but pausing it at the start so that I could do the reading then press play plus follow this up with some further research to see what connected or not. Key things connected for sure like animals, colours and physical descriptions - even ages etc. It may have actually been the first real time I ever tried it! Not that I have done many. In fact, on thinking about it, with that particular case above a bit more information came out about it 3-4 years after that reading so I was able to take another look to see if anything had changed or not. I think the car I got the first time around matched one witnesses eye report, but in the update that came 3-4 years later I think a different kind of car was touched on and colour only nothing about it was ever concrete and no arrest was made that I am aware so I'm wondering if they are now back at square one. But YES is the answer to your question and it is a great way to hone in on your skills and developing them whether Tarot or other. DND 🌞

I didn't think about murder/detective TV shows. lol, if I did sports predictions my husband would suddenly be very excited about tarot! Yes! It's changed my view of some cards too. I was amazed yesterday to get the 7 of cups with the 7 of swords as a "drug raid". Thanks for your comment 🙂

Now I remember I did something similar a while ago, but watching a tarot reader do a reading on a current murder case. My story didn't quite match up as he went a different direction. But when I Googled the story I was amazed to see that some of the small details I came up with correlated with bits and pieces that were reported. e.g. I saw that the girl who was murdered was bipolar so I googled and I found an article that said that the coroner found a certain medication in her system, which I then Googled the name of and found could be given to people who are bipolar. But I didn't think of checking again for an update. That's genius! Thanks for adding your experience 🙂

Thanks for adding your experience 🙂 You should follow up - never know what you might find out! 🌞 In a way it is one way of seeing what is on the nail and not which is just as valuable as feedback. Correction: Eye witnesses report not witnesses eye report. Out and about today - so not catching my errors or autocorrect doing its things when it does. DND 🌞

Okay, so I just took a look and the case was closed despite so many questions and theories. But there's theories that match up with what I saw in the cards. I'll take that! But I'm definitely going to follow0up in the future as you said. Thanks!
