Hello, everyone! Longtime AT lurker, first time TT&M poster here.

My name is Etta. I'm turning thirty in a couple of years and currently live in New England with my partner and my sweet Golden Retriever.

I've been interested in reading tarot for a little over half my life now but have found it hard to commit to a course of study. Which deck do I pick? What style do I read? Apparently, my current answer up to this point has been: all of them. It's...not been exactly helpful. So I'm planning on focusing on the Tarot de Marseille, between my Chosson (1736) deck and my Seventh Sphere deck.

Besides tarot, I enjoy reading playing cards and Lenormand.

I look forward to talking with and learning from everyone here!

Ice Breaker Time! What's your favorite Major Arcana?

Mine has to be The Sun. It's just so sunny! Or Death, because I never did shake off my high school emo tendencies.

Well, hello!
Etta is a cool name (Etta James!) and Goldens are a great breed, Smart dogs, really trainable. My dogs (Shelties) have a similar rep but mine are brats. That's my fault, though. 😁

You can pretty much read Marseilles pips using playing card meanings. It IS a deck of playing cards, after all.

Lenormand is just...necessary. Like the weather forecast, but more accurate.

Welcome!

Thank you! (You're only the fourth person in my life to say "Etta James!")

Please kiss your Shelties for me. They're such a sweet breed.

That's 100% why I figured I may as well go all-in on that one.

Truer words were never spoken.

Thank you for the warm welcome!

Hi Etta! Welcome to the forum. When it comes to picking a deck to use, I always go by which deck speaks to me the most. To me, it's the deck that mirrors my own energy, catches my eye or feels like "home" in a way, or like an old friend. Haha. I know that sounds a bit strange but that's how it is for me!

As for the Major Arcana card, my favorite would be The Star, hence the username.
