Just a suggestion, if you guys need to free up some space, the badges could go. Post count is actually nothing to do with reading ability, it's misleading.

I wasn't even aware that we had badges until I got a notification just now. They don't seem to be functioning correctly anyway. My old ones say "Earned just now" or "Earned 9 hours ago" and it says I'm a "Newbie."

The above post earned me a "Conversation Starter" badge. I really need to find a way to turn off notifications for this...

I really don't like the idea that none of us are even listed as "proficient" until we've made thousands of posts. A lot of us were proficient long before we came here.
Those of us who are used to forums know titles like that are hooey, but what if you do paid readings and a potential client who doesn't know that sees "Rookie" or "Apprentice" on your profile? "Mentor" could cause a lot of unwanted confusion too. Not everyone who is up to X number of posts will have the time or inclination to take on a protege.

And "Grand Master" just reminds me of Flash. 🤣
 

It really needs to be made clear that these are about post count and don't reflect the accuracy of anyones' readings.

I've been working and haven't had a chance to really look at it, honestly!  ❤ I'll mess with it when I'm not working so hard. 😰

Too bad you can't postpone updates the way I do to Microsoft, lol. Everything always wants to update at the worst possible times.

I can, but often they are important security updates and I dare not let those lapse! 😂 Don't need us getting hacked, ha!

I've just earned a collaborator badge. It feels like the forum software is calling me a quisling.

Praise be, the other invision forum I am on doesn't have them... But it is rather OFF. I made my first post 16 hours ago - and passed 500 at the same moment, while having been here for a week, a month and a year, also all at the same time.

What DO you have to do to become a collaborator ? (NVM I see I am one too. Let us go plot together...)

We are ALL newbies.

 

And I'm OK being a virgin again. But it is all a bit childish.

We are all newbies, but I just got a notification to let me know that I'm now a "rookie"! 🙂

I wonder if it would help if there was a key with the ranks that let us know what post count activated each rank? It would give us a target to reach.

I don't want any of the ranks. I hope we at least get the option to turn this off or hide it.

it must be something you can see in your profiles? It doesn't show on threads except I can see a waving hand in the avatars. and the balloon with numbers beside it. Does that mean Katrinka has made 3800 posts? I've always thought post count was silly. There is quality and there is quantity. Up to the reader to decide.

It doesn't actually make sense anyway. MY profile: it shows I have earned my collaborator - but the thing on  the left says I haven't.
