Nemia Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 (edited) There is a book in German, called roughly translated "Where Goddesses (Matrons) Protect the Lands". It's about the matron stones from the Roman/Celtic/German time in the Eifel area. Visiting an ancient matron temple, seeing the candles and flowers put there by people even nowadays, and reading this book had a huge spiritual impact on me. I understand that the area I grew up in has deep deep goddess roots, and that I can connect to them. Edited June 7, 2023 by Nemia
Jasmine Posted October 6, 2023 Posted October 6, 2023 I'm enjoying Tara Brach's teachings. Radical Acceptance is an excellent book, so are her other books. I listen to her a lot on audio. I'm finding my meditation practice has naturally deepened and I'm more present and aware in daily life.

Arania Posted October 6, 2023 Posted October 6, 2023 Really a big impact, I can think of only one. Several others like the Dhammapada and such, of course later, but this was the one which really impressed me in my early teens. Lama Anagarika Goivinda - The Way of the White Clouds
Saturn Celeste Posted October 6, 2023 Posted October 6, 2023 This book! When my son was very little I used to read this book to him before bed. His father was half Norwegian and I love the Norse myths. By reading this book so often and talking about it with my child, the thought of spiritual beliefs other than Christianity entered my head. I later found a word for my spiritual belief; Omnism, "the respect of or belief in all religion." To me, no matter the name of the religion, they are all the same because of the main reason they are so important to people and that is faith. It is the faith in people that is developed as religion. It's all good to me.
GreatDane Posted October 6, 2023 Author Posted October 6, 2023 Catching up on those who revived this thread, shout out to Jasmine, FYS, Arania and Saturn Celeste. I see almost everyone on this thread got what I meant by spiritual, as in of the spirit, and that can be interpreted many ways. THANKS for the pix too! I'm going back and taking notes! Many I have read, many I haven't, some I didn't know existed.
