Howdy! My name is eggy and I recently got into tarot. I've been really enjoying the process of learning the cards. There seems to be never ending layers of information hidden in them. I've got a book on the kabbalah and numerology on the way to dive a little deeper. Recently my Morgan-Greer deck has been ripping me a new one. Does anyone have certain decks that are scary to work with or just don't hold back?

Hi and welcome. 🙂
Yes, if you're going to use occult correspondences, start early. I put it off for years and now I feel like I'm driving a Lamborghini when I use the Thoth, only I'm some ancient little old lady and I only drive to the grocery store and doctors appointments, and never go over 30 MPH. 🤣 I'm not using the Thoth to its full potential. A Lambo will go over 200 MPH...

I don't have any scary decks. Some are darker than others, but in a fun way (like the Bohemian Gothic) but none are scary in themselves. OTOH the prissiest, daintiest little Lenormands can give me a cold chill when they come up with a timely and serious warning. It's not the cards for me, it's the way they fall.

Hi eggy and Velcome!  The Morgan Greer is a very direct speaking deck and a beautiful one as well.  I love the close-ups, and the saturated colors.  I much prefer it to the RWSmith drawings.  And good luck w learning your correspondences.  You could try the Crowley/Harris Thoth deck for starters.  It should keep you busy.   I bought a deck that I will probably never get to the bottom of, and it IS scary, and out of print for now
