smittenkitten Posted October 8, 2021 Author Posted October 8, 2021 @Jewel I have heard so many great things about that book, but you've really sold it to me! I'm going to pick up a copy as soon as I can. I love Mary Greer (I already own her book on court cards and of course Tarot for Yourself). Thanks for explaining how the book works a bit, it was very helpful.

Thanks for explaining how the book works a bit, it was very helpful. I am so glad the suggestion was helpful to you. I was just looking at the decks in your collection, the Llewellyn, Gilded or Grand Luxe would all be good choices to use with this book and are RWS based. The Osho Zen I would not recommend starting out because it is non-traditional, some of the exercises in the book will have you go to Tarot Books and such and will make more sense using a RWS deck as you are starting out. You will also get the opportunity to compare the deck you choose to use with other decks which was fun. I also recommend that you have a journal to do your 21 Ways work. I used a journal specifically for this and filled it up! It took me about a year to finish the 21 Ways. Some exercises might seem of feel silly but do them anyways, others you will look at might think they are not for you .... don't skip any of them I promise you will be glad you didn't when you are all done. You will notice a difference in your confidence by the end of the Apprentice level and will really build on it during the Adept level, that is why I really recommend doing one level then the other no matter how tempting it is to jump ahead, don't. I started with a deck I wanted to like and was struggling connecting to. I ended up really understanding my deck, very connected to it, and delighted that I took the time with it and the book. Though I used the one deck, I will tell you that I walked away being able to work better with other decks in general as well because I learned how to look at the cards, with a better concept of base meanings of cards, with better understanding how things fit together, and greater trust in my own intuition combined with the other things I learned. It really helped me learn to synthesize my readings and put things together. P.S. If you get the book and have questions or need someone to bounce things off while working with it feel free to PM me, I am happy to discuss the book and exercises with you. Her book on Understanding the Tarot Court is really good, I like it a lot too. Edited October 8, 2021 by Jewel
katrinka Posted November 13, 2021 Posted November 13, 2021 Has anyone mentioned the Morgan-Greer? It's a zoomed-in RWS type deck, so it's "loud" that way. And it's available in a tin. https://www.usgamesinc.com/Morgan-Greer-Tarot-in-a-Tin.html It's got a strong 70's vibe (like that porn 'stache on the Magician, lol) and some of the details are missing since the view is so close up. But if you don't mind those things, it's a good reading deck that never seems to go out of print.
