Oracle of the Dragonfae

I used to have the first edition of this deck, but some of the cards' art weren't really my... taste, so I ended up passing it on. Now I see a new edition is available, and many of the cards seem to have new art! From the images I found on the web, the result is looking pretty good. Has anyone tried this new edition? Do you find it better than the older one or not?

If anyone can share their experiences with it, that would be wonderful! ❤️

Since no one de-enabled me, I just went ahead and bought the deck, lol.😗  It's my first deck purchase in ages, so I'm not too guilty.

Well, the new cards look VERY good! Personally, I do like them better than the ones in the 1st edition, that a had a rather childlike art. Now, I have nothing against childlike art (and this is not a criticism of the previous artists), but... the fact is that those cards  just didn't gel well with the rest of the art in the deck (by Ravynne Phelan, Selina Fenech and other well-known fantasy artists). So, IMO, the problem is fixed in this new edition.

The 2nd edition cards have a matte finish. The 1st edition ones had a shiny finish, but they were good too. The new card stock seems a bit flimsier than I remembered, but it could be just my memory playing tricks.

The booklet is pretty much the same, but it has a better paper and a more flexible cover, which makes it easier to open and read. The overall quality is the same of all Blue Angel decks - sturdy boxes, good printing, pretty colours etc.

Last, but not least, the back of the cards have been changed too. In the 1st edition, they had a pentagram. Now the have the same image of the woman and the dragon you see on the box. This is the only point I think the 1st edition was better... I rather liked the pentagram, lol! But it's just a minor thing.

All in all, I am very happy to have this deck in my collection once again!

I have had the first edition for years and I really love the deck.  This second edition has me really curious.  Were a lot of the cards changed?

Quite a few were changed, but not the ones illustrated by Ravynne Phelan and Selina Fenech (which make up the majority of the cards).

Some examples of cards that have new illustration: Melusine, Nimue, Grandmother Magicks, Morgan le Fay, Queen Mab, Aine and the Guardian, New Moon Fae etc. It seems to me that only the cards drawn by some specific artists that were replaced with new one. Perhaps there was a problem with the rights for the new edition or something like that.

Anyway, I like the new art by Jimmy Manton very much. It suits the deck IMHO.

Thanks so much, I will have to check it out for sure.
