Just don’t. 90% of the time they just say nothing or confuse the meaning more. If you don’t get a card in a spread, study the card, journal about possible meanings, or ask for outside help instead. This will help you learn better than a hundred clarifiers ever will!

This will help you learn better than a hundred clarifiers ever will! Hear, hear! Time and patience (and reading, talking about the card etc) will actually help, unlike just pulling another card. I think it's quite a recent trent; I can't recall anyone using 'clarifiers' five or ten years ago. And I have never seen them actually do any clarifying.
