Guest Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 Apologies if this has been covered somewhere else (I couldn't find it but admittedly didn't do an exhaustive search!),but does anyone have/use/know of the starseed oracle? I saw it wasn't in the listed decks, but wonder if people have had much experience of it and what their thoughts are on it. I bought it recently and am still getting to know it. I wasn't too sure at first but I find it to be usually quite helpful and enlightening when combined with an RWS reading. Would love to know people's thoughts!
AJ-ish/Sharyn Posted October 20, 2021 Posted October 20, 2021 welcome to the forum lastlight! I could only find mentions of it in other threads, but I think there are some folk here who like it. Hopefully they will chime in. https://www.thetarotforum.com/search/?q="starseed oracle"&quick=1
Guest Posted October 20, 2021 Posted October 20, 2021 Hi @AJ-ish/Sharyn. Thank you! Yes I only found mentions more or less. I don't really know how I feel about it, but I've had some really good results using it with RWS, where the messages were very aligned and helped clarify an interpretation that could have gone one way or another. But I'm still on the fence with it as a deck. Have had a proper read of some of these threads now though - it seems a little divisive so that gives me a bit of context to my own thoughts 🙂
katrinka Posted October 20, 2021 Posted October 20, 2021 I don't have the Starseed, but I think oracle decks tend not to work that well when used by themselves and in the usual way. I can see why you use it along with RWS. I actually purchased an oracle deck recently and did several trial draws. They were pretty hit or miss: draw a card, wait and see if anything fits. I blogged it and compared it to a Lenormand draw that led me straight to a lost object I was looking for: https://fatekeepson.blogspot.com/2021/10/your-fancy-chords-dont-mean-nothin-if.html I do think a lot of oracle decks could work well alone if you tweak the method a bit, though. I've had good results with the Victorian Flower Oracle over the years. But I use it cartomantically, with combined meanings and very specific questions. I think this new one would work better that way, too. I can't speak for the Starseed, though. I prefer balanced decks and if the Starseed is one of those "no bad cards!" decks, it might not work as well. But if it works with RWS and you like doing it that way, by all means enjoy it. 😉
Guest Posted October 24, 2021 Posted October 24, 2021 Thanks @katrinka. I read your blog post - really interesting! And enjoyed your side comments on Louise Hay. Wholly agree with that, especially given its resurgence in recent years. Starseed does have...sort of... bad cards, but I guess my bigger issue with it is that it is both very glossy and magical looking (created by someone who works in advertising), and has quite a specific cosmic belief system which I don't necessarily buy into (and I do feel like I'm being 'sold' it). But like I say, using it with RWS has yielded really good results. So maybe that's what matters!
