Sevenwonders Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 (edited) I have read lots of advice that says to record your daily card in a journal. I appreciate that everyone's way of journalling will be different but I was wondering if you could describe or show me some of your examples to give me ideas to get me started. What kind of things do you find useful to record? Do you find you refer back to your entries at a later date? How do you lay out the information? Do you have separate sections for different information? Digital or paper? I feel like there's so many choices it's a bit overwhelming to know how to get started. I use a very a very simple journal in my Filofax (which is set up a bit like a bullet journal). I use a monthly calendar to track other things and down the side I track my daily draws. I don't tend to write about them or anything, just what the card was. The deck I'm using has a very in depth guide book so I don't feel the need to write anything. I'm planning on inputting the data into a spreadsheet to see how things went over the year in terms of cards. And which card came up most! But also look into minor/major arcana and suites and such like. Here's a picture from the start of January, sorry if it's a little blurry...
Jewel Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 I love journaling though honestly I have fallen off the wagon since I started working remotely and do not have access to a color printer. I am also not one for daily readings or card draws, so when I am journaling it is mainly larger spreads. I would print out a picture of the spread and tape in, then I would get images of each card and interpret each one next to the image. Finally I would do a summary of the reading putting it all together. I love using colored markers (blue of cups, red for wands, green for pentacles, yellow for swords, and purple for majors, so I would write the card in that color then do my writing in pen. Very colorful journal LOL. I have posted a lot of my readings in my journal here at TT&M so you can see an abbreviated version of what it would like in the Journal forum area. As to referring back to the readings, yes I do. Often time I also go back into my journal to find spreads I have used that I like. I also go back and review the readings I have done with a specific deck when I go to write Tarot Deck reviews. I find journaling to be reflective, cathartic, and helpful for me to see if I am moving forward emotionally and psychologically.
katrinka Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 I don't do dailies or journal readings any more. I haven't done so in years. But I do keep a journal for notes in general. Cards, recipes, addresses, things I want written down somewhere. I'm posting it only because it's messy and disorganized, and I prefer it that way. I know where everything is, since I wrote it all down. The objective is for me to be able to find things, not for anyone else to be able to make heads or tails of it. 😉 When I used to journal readings, they were much the same.
MoonchildEllie Posted November 16, 2021 Posted November 16, 2021 Ah, I've been wondering the same! I found that the best way for me is by doing one 3-card pull a week. This is my usual Monday pull that I do just before logging in for work to get me prepared for the week ahead: 🌟1st card is the overall energy I can expect this week. 🌟2nd card is the potential challenges I might face. 🌟3rd card is advice on how I can overcome these challenges. After reflecting on my reading, the 3rd card will usually go hang out with me on a card stand on my work desk for the week so I can look back at it when I need a reminder on how to deal with challenges if/when they arise. I log my thoughts in a simple journal just making note of the date, time, what cards I pulled, and what message I got from the reading. At the end of the week, I'll return to the entry and make any additional notes & observations. I plan to work up to maybe a daily card pull, but I'm just really bad at keeping up journals. I figure I can pull off the once-a-week because it gives me something to look forward to in order to start my Monday mornings! 😁
