I wouldn't use RWS meanings, since it would defeat the purpose of using a pip deck. You might as well just use RWS. But even if you end up doing that, it's your choice. That tends to be the issue I encountered. If I say the 5s are challenging due to being at Geburah/Mars or that 6s are balanced at Tiphareth/Sun, that reminds forum sitters of the RWS and Thoth, since hermetic Kabbalah was one of their three main building blocks. Though my pip reading isn't based on RWS card meanings, I've gotten pushback on some places where there are general similarities. But really, it's not that big a deal. I was just being glib. 🙂 It hasn't stopped me from reading pips that way. As you said, with only suit symbols for imagery, pips can be freeing, and to each their own!
katrinka Posted December 2, 2021 Posted December 2, 2021 (edited) LOL, it sounds like they want everything separated into little boxes with no overlap at all. They probably wouldn't approve of me reading TdM, etc. so similarly to playing cards, either. Even though the Thoth is essentially a pip deck and Tarot is a deck of playing cards. 😁 You're not retrofitting TdM to Thoth. You're reading with a Qabalistic method. Not the same thing!
