Now, to start with; I do not mean this to be critical in any way or to poke fun at anyone. I am just interested and thought it would be an interesting discussion ...

In a few other topics, I've seen folks make mention of having been frightened, to one extent or another, by the "accuracy" of the Tarot. Most times this is in regards to a first, or at least early experience with the cards. I have also heard people mention this when we've had in-person discussions on Tarot. The reason I'm wondering is because I've not had this really happen. I started learning Tarot in large part because I wanted to have those sorts of awe-inspiring experiences. And, over the years, I have had many excellent, deep and accurate readings.

So, what sort of thing frightened you (if it did) about a Tarot reading you gave, received or witnessed? And, what brought you back to Tarot afterwards?

Being frightened by tarot happened to me once. During a monthly reading I had the 3 of cups for the "health" position. Looking at that card, my head started to turn, i felt bigger and bigger nausea. I was really bad. I don't know how long it lasted, no more than 1min I think, but it was a very powerful sensation. I understood that it was about a hangover. And 2 weeks later I had the worst hangover of my life.

What frightened me is not the accuracy of the reading but more the deep sensation I had and the fact that in a way, for a short moment, I lived the hangover before having it for real.

This kind of thing has happened to me only one more time but it was less strong and for a totally different topic. Since then I think i c,osed something inside me because i have never felt that again.

frightening...maybe. I actually avoid drawing cards for divination for the most part because they are very very accurate. And that leaves me philosophizing the causality of knowing the future and all the hilarious thought experiments that go with that line of thought.

if someone asks, I really try to talk them out of it. I will use the i-ching first it's language is more obscured.

I've had visceral reactions for sure, but few occasions of fear. The most recent I can think of are when I calculated my year card for 2018 and when I was reading about what gifts to get people for Christmas last night.

I made the mistake of questioning whether I should get my sister something related to her upcoming wedding. Um...yeah. That fear when my heart dropped at the cards was unmistakable. I'm still a bit scared, actually. I've had enough accurate readings on what to do/what not to do that I still get pretty scared when I'm not sure I have the strength to follow through on something.

Fear's never scared me away from the tarot, though. I read because I need those insights whether they're pretty or not. I wouldn't use the decks I do if I was scared of that fear.

The only readings that have actually sort of frightened me had to do with physical deaths, which occurred within weeks of the readings. There are certain combinations of the cards I do not enjoy seeing. Fortunately, it doesn't happen often!

Usually however I totally enjoy the accuracy of the cards. :) I am totally down with fortune telling, and I love how gossipy the tarot can be about events to come!

I'm curious about the card combinations that herald actual, physical death for you, Padma. I get very nervous when I get Death + The Devil + Ace or 3 of Swords.

The sequence I get is usually 3 of Swords, Tower, Death (or sometimes 9 of Swords is the last card). That is the one that has me scurrying when I see it!

Whew, we share 2 out of 3 cards in our dire Tarot combo. It's quite uncanny.

When I first gotten Chris (my first official deck) I asked him what strengths does he have as a deck. He answered with these two cards The Devil and The World in reversed by seeing this it made me cry. While another pair is The Devil and The Hierophant in reversed which means a corrupt system (government).
