wldmtn_rose Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 Hello all. I have been practicing Tarot for about one year now, and have only done readings for myself and a few close friends as I continue to learn. I am currently 11 weeks pregnant and thought it would be fun to ask the Tarot what the sex of my baby is. I pulled three cards: 9 of Wands, The Chariot, 6 of Wands To me this reading points to a boy, as Wands have a masculine fire energy. The Chariot also seems to be a masculine card. What's also of interest to note, all of these cards represent strength, confidence, determination and rising up. Seems to me like this will be a strong, confident boy. Do you think I'm interpreting this correctly? Thanks for any insight you have to offer!
EmpyreanKnight Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 2 fire cards with a water one in the middle, all showing masculine themes (defense/strength, war, victory) and with all of the images showing only men. The cards seem to point that your baby is going to be a boy, wldmth_rose.
wldmtn_rose Posted December 19, 2017 Author Posted December 19, 2017 I got the results back from my early DNA screening, and the Tarot was spot on! It's a boy! I also learned that the Chariot represents the zodiac sign Cancer and the time period when the baby is expected. Thanks for your feedback EmpyreanKnight!
Raggydoll Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 Yay for tarot! And congratulations on your pregnancy!!
Little Fang Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 I love how spot on that reading was! I've always associated Wands and Swords for men, and Pentacles and Cups for women! Congrats on your pregnancy and your new boy! :-*

Ix Chel Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 Congratulations wldmtn_rose with your pregnancy. I still have some questions about using the Tarot for predicting the baby gender. Normally the element Water and Pentacles are seen as a girl, and the elements Fire and Air are a boy. But how do you then interpret the following cards: • The Chariot, the archetype is a male, but the element is water. Is the archetype in this case more important and will it then stand for a boy? • How do you interpret the court cards? • The pages are in my opinion in the RWS all boys. But what if you have the page of Cups or Pentacles, the element stands for a girl, but the figure is a boy. • The Knights are all male. But what does the gender prediction mean if you have a knight of Cups or Pentacles? • The Queen of Wands or Swords, the element stands for a boy, but the card figure is a girl, what does this mean for the prediction? • The Kings are all male. But what if you have a King of Cups or Pentacles? • In short what is more important the card figure or the element? Thanks.
EmpyreanKnight Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 I actually don't have hard and fast rules for determining a baby's gender. Tbh if the cards were vague I won't have replied to the question. Last year, I did try to divine the gender of someone's baby, but the cards were unclear so I thought that maybe I'm not really meant to know it at that point, and since it was not very important I just dropped the question. It's one of the very few times that I left a reading as inconclusive btw. However, the cards that wldmtn_rose drew were so exclusively male that I had to point it out. The only feminine element I saw in it was the water of the Chariot, but the other details so dominate it that it receded into the background. For me tho: Kings will always be male, Queens female, and Knights male, regardless of the suit. We are trying to focus on the gender of the baby here, not their temperament or personality or what-not. To maintain some balance, the Pages should be female, and for many decks like the Thoth and the GD this poses no problem since they actually are female. The RWS has male Pages tho, and I still don't have a satisfactory answer to this. Also, what if the spread has contradictory courts, or if the gender of a court card is gainsaid by the other cards in the spread? Should this be a one-card type of reading? So many questions.
