My draw from the Trionfi today - will be moving on to playing with the Jean Noblet Tarot tomorrow!

A nice one to show off this substitute for the Tower (The Lightning), but perhaps not my favourite card to draw! I was totally stuck on this reading this morning, and then after a few minutes it just came to me, and I went for a spontaneous and pretty simple reading that felt right. I feel like I've 'merged' with this deck now. Much like the Deviant Moon always just seems to deal wisdom on the table for me, the Trionfi is feeling more and more like that.

The Lightning: A scorching blast of lightning bursts unexpectedly from the sky, shattering a tree and raining flame down on a shepherd and his demonic flock. My block here is that I was reading this like something bad was going to happen today - and I realized, it was referring to the influence of an event from yesterday on today - in particular, our kid getting in trouble at school (which was a bit of a devastating surprise, because he has been great, and was particularly hard on my partner and made them very anxious). And this caused some tension between the two of us, as well. Not as devastating a Tower event as one could imagine, but it is, after all, a daily draw.

X of Cups: A large cup at the top of the card pours liquid into the rest of the cups, which are lined up perfectly. The reading came together for me with this card. How can I respond to this Lightning situation from yesterday? I could be reactive and upset, or I can share my presence, my love, and my openness with everyone else in the household, so their cups can be full too.

The Lovers: An easy one as the final destination - by following the steps in the X of Cups, we can move from the disintegration and chaos of the The Lightning to the love, union, and communication of The Lovers.

What a lovely draw, @Wyrdkiss, and really speaks to me. Finding that inner space of comfort and solace - that is pretty much what my entire practice (maybe life) is focused on. And The Star is one of my favourite cards, and the Thoth one is beautiful.

I’ve been using Tarot: The Open Reading, which uses a mix of the symbolic meaning of the numbers tied to the Major Arcana, the card in the context of the other cards, and then reading the lines and the visuals of the card itself. It’s a nice, balanced approach - I think he calls it a mix of reading the “table” (suit and number) and reading the image.

Thanks so much, I'm putting that book on my Goodreads list @sweeneyish.  May order it sooner rather than later, as I am not only a strong proponent of Spreads in tarot use, but a bit of a junkie with them as well.  Awesome.

And I'm glad you are keen on the Arboridium. Here's a quote and the image again:

"Now shut your eyes," I said, already shutting mine.  "and come with me to my haven. Join me in my most magickal place."

I waited a while. "now open them."

a small gasp escaped his lips as he saw the Saztaculous waters of the Thinking Lake silently glittering in the late evening sun...

"are we really here " he managed, in this crumlush place? Where is this?"

"I have brought you to my Haven" I told him. "It's where I always go when things get too much and I need peace. I close my eyes and

I am here..."

I hope you enjoy the book! It’s mostly about the Tarot de Marseille, but the whole section on reading could be used for any deck (really, a lot of the Tarot de Marseille info is good for reading any deck too). His open ‘spread’ is really wonderful, and the way he reads is quite nice. And it’s generally a very well written approach that speaks to how I see my reading style is evolving - symbolism and imagery, but reading the whole picture of the cards together and allowing some intuitive reading to come into play.

That’s a lovely quote - what a magical deck!
