@sweeneyish -- I think realizing one's resistance is key to getting through it more effectively.  Nicely done.

Tell me, do you read this oracle in a Lenormand fashion?

and it was certainly nice to have a friend over for an hour to shoot the breeze, yes.  The next few cards I pulled were for a different friend as well as one for myself.

I'll post those after work, as they show a different artistic approach (slightly different) and also hold a bit of a deeper message.

I totally agree - resistance is the best sign of progress, if we can notice it - That's the tricky part 😆

@Wyrdkiss - Patrick tends to (more and more, I find) recommend intuitive reading with his decks, and for this particular one, he didn't even include spreads, so I went for an open reading style - basically, a three card pull with no positional meanings, and starting by looking at where the different characters are looking to determine the central theme or focus (if there is one). The other thing I've been doing is this technique Enrique Enriquez recommends, which is if a character on one end of the row is looking at nothing (i.e. there no card where they are looking), adding a card there to complete the reading. I really enjoy reading this way. As a side note, Mildred's Secret Oracle I do read Lenormand style.

You are right about the 6 of Wands and Chariot and of course both are "driving" themselves somewhere. Both are seen as victorious. Now I'm gonna have to play with this more. It'll be a nice break from researching the Strength/Justice numbering debate I've been doing all day.  I'm currently in an 8 year and can't decide if it's Strength or Justice. 🤔 First time I've cared about this ever.🤣

I like how you interpreted the Masquerade. I used to be in a similar situation with Aunt who loved bingo. I always went with her and had fun even though I hate Bingo, gambling in general, and crowds. i LOVED my aunt however and she LOVED bingo. Those memories will be cherished and remembered for their fun and not how much you did or did not enjoy the activity yourself. I think that is reinforced with the other card as well. Sometimes we have to hurt a little to bring joy to others but like childbirth (if you have done it) the pain is quickly forgotten and only the joy of the experience is remembered.

If you felt like grabbing a bag of popcorn and watching the fireworks, you could post an open question about the Strength/Justice positions in one of the boards and which way is the 'right' way - that is sure to provide some entertainment! I love the story of your Aunt - such a perfect example. Thanks for sharing!

I'm so stoked --- can hardly wait. Looking forward to your posts. I got the traditional, not the paradoxical. We'll have to compare.

I got both 😱

My daily reading today:

image.thumb.jpeg.d5e1d383e2251934f50d525f51b9aa21.jpeg

The Rose: Upon a winterly, lifeless hill, a beautiful Rose blooms in the dead of the winter. It is a symbol of the cycle of life continuing, a beacon of hope, a role model, and a living miracle.

I'm meeting with my guru today - and I don't use this word lightly. He is quite well known, truly a living Buddha, and one of the wisest and most compassionate people living in the world. 30 minutes with him is a huge gift, and he is certainly a role model and living miracle, so I think he is my Rose today.

Seeds: An open hand sprinkles seeds onto the fresh ground below. Sunshine, rain, and nature standby, reading to bring these fertile seeds to their full potential. They represent new beginnings, fresh starts, laying the groundwork, and hope for the future.

Again, because my mind is so preoccupied with meeting with my beloved teacher today, all I can think of is that this meeting will plant the seeds for my practice for quite some time to come - and I welcome that whole heartedly.

The Stranger: Two inhabitants of the garden are surprised when a man arrives by their bush, wearing strange clothes (or perhaps it is strange that he is wearing clothes at all!). The stranger, in the meanwhile, is quite perturbed by the naked figures he sees before him.

I have met with my teacher a few times with other people, and I work for his organization, but I haven't had a one on one meeting with him before, and honestly, I'm quite nervous - I think I'm afraid I may appear strange and unworthy, perhaps as out of place as either these two inhabitants or the stranger, depending on perspective. The rational part of me knows that he is one of the kindest and most welcoming people I could ever chat with and it will go great, but the anxious part of me still has some fear.

I know it's going to go well, regardless, but these cards tell the story very succinctly.

I thought about it but either way it's ultimately just what I feel is right.  Which is both and neither. We can't really know the 'original' order because trumps weren't numbered in the older decks so basically the order is pretty much made up anyway.

And that is how you start some fireworks. 😈

Edited to add: Please do not encourage me to practice my SH*T starting skills. I've worked hard to to control my pushing peoples buttons tendencies.  😛

Ah, I actually got the traditional version with the illustrated pips! 🙂 But I will gladly post some of my Marseille-style Paradoxical Blue when I can!

This is absolutely the correct way (if one has the means)! 😆

To all you Deviant Moon addicts, the Trionfi della Luna ILLUSTRATED is now shipping!  Woot!

I've decided to keep my oracle, the Pixiekins, for light entertainment.  I'm eager to get the above into my hands, however, and dive in here with a new deck.

It will most likely not be here by the start of our next week's study, so ... I'm a bit uncertain what to do next.  I'm going to spend a few days contemplating that, as I

am a bit done for now with my current selection.

How are the rest of you doing?

I am doing great. I plan to look at some new spreads to try out so I can get more practice with my deck before the week is out.

I'm thoroughly enjoying the Sacred India Tarot, but it is definitely one for personal readings as each card is attached to Hindu mythology, which is immensely huge. The Land Sky Oracle is a pleasure, and works well with this tarot deck.

I just got the shipping notice as well...woot woot. Guessing it will be a few weeks for me, since things tend to get stuck at the border for a few days. But I'm so pumped. Maybe you should have a Deviant Moon week in preparation? I would join you 😃

Sounds like everyone is having great reading weeks.

In my excitement at getting the shipping notification, I did a reading with the (non-illustrated) Trionfi della Luna - and hilariously, got all non-illustrated pips! Perhaps a sign...Of both the awesomeness of getting illustrated pips soon, and the awesomeness of non-illustrated pips?

I think the central card in the reading as literally the central card - the VIII of Cups. I think so because of the vines creeping out to the cards on either side. So I read from the centre being the action, or strongest influence of the day, and the two outside cards being results of that action:

VIII of Cups: Let's go with self-discovery with this one. Turning within, focusing on inner resources rather than outer, not being swayed by the circumstances of the outside world (and maybe some disappointment out there as well).

X of Cups: Complete fulfillment, harmonious relationships, happiness, contentment. Well, I could use some of this, so let's hope turning within helps (well, I shouldn't say hope - I know it will!)

VII of Coins: Investing in myself, giving myself time to grow, measuring my progress. I am basically reading the "turning within" as being aware, being mindful, and not just when I'm on my cushion, but all the time, in any situation. Of course, this takes time, work, and is certainly a self-investment, so...let the work begin!

Another Trionfi della Luna reading for today:

Once again doing the open reading style, and based on direction cards are looking and Courts > Pips,

reading right from left.

Queen of Wands: She walks with regal confidence, her wand held before her. She ignores her inner voices, which try to create

doubt and bring her down. Instead, she acts with confidence, assertiveness, and creative energy. Happy to embody this today!

VII of Coins: A repeat from yesterday! Keep investing in myself with powerful, confident energy of the Queen of Wands.

II of Cups: While keeping that confident, inward facing energy, focus on nurturing relationships today, particularly with an eye on equality and balance. Meaning, keep on investing in myself, but don’t forget to invest in the people around me too.

As a sidenote, I love his take on the Marseilles

II of Cups. The sea monsters are beautiful.

And finally, just to use the Beast Pack Expansion for fun, I asked about who the II of Cups specifically referred to - which relationship I should nurture.

IV. Zellan

A disingenuous or deceitful personality. A fake friend.

Hmm…Not sure about this one, but fun to use the deck, regardless!
