mainemainemaine Posted May 24, 2022 Posted May 24, 2022 (edited) Curious what card COMBINATIONS you identify as indicators for the potential of a long term/long lasting romantic connection For me the big one I like to see is the Two of Cups with any of the following: Ace of Cups, Nine of Cups, Ten of Cups, Queen of Cups, Empress, Lovers, Sun What are your top combinations you like to see that indicate this, and why? DanielJUK Posted May 24, 2022 Posted May 24, 2022 There was some love spreads just recently discussed in our Spreads area here @Kate22 .... Let's keep it on topic here with the best Card Combos 🙂
mainemainemaine Posted May 24, 2022 Author Posted May 24, 2022 Thank you! I really am asking about the actual combinations ☺️
geoxena Posted May 24, 2022 Posted May 24, 2022 I think that the way to interpret any combo will depend on the querent, the specific question and how it was worded, the deck used, the cards' positions within a spread, if the reader reads reversals or not, and so on. Almost any combo can indicate whether a relationship is going to be seen as potentially long lasting and committed, if read within the context of the things I mentioned. Just my opinion.

So much this! Recently there have been a spate of "what combos mean this" or "what cards mean that". Tarot is not a Magic Eight Ball where you flip over cards (or a ball) and there is an answer waiting for you underneath. It depends on context and everything @geoxena mentions too.... More on context, Rana George once said (although she isn't the first or only of course), "Context! Context! Context!" For example, I once got what one would consider Long Term Love/Romance Combination cards in a throw. It was a 3-card general reading and I was waiting for my best friend in a coffee shop. He had suddenyl gone incommunicado. This was over 15 years ago but I'll never forget it. I got 10 of Cups, Ace of Cups, and King of Cups (with the Costante Constantini Minchiate). I knew right away he was dead (and I was right.) Some here remember when this happened, if not this reading.... These were "crossing over" cards. What's romantic about that? On the surface the 10 of Cups, Ace of Cups, and King of Cups could be predetermined to be "Romance" cards. right? One reason not to take the cookie cutter approach and set cards aside as romance, death, "evil spells" or any other reason. We just don't know what meanings cards have until they are on the table.
mainemainemaine Posted May 24, 2022 Author Posted May 24, 2022 Fair enough! Really not trying to over complicate this, and speaking simply about using a RW Deck, a 3 Card Combo, and asking simply, “Does this relationship have strong romantic/long term energy…” Reversals welcome!

Let me ask you this, just as an exercise: how would you interpret the cards if you asked that question and pulled The Devil, Nine of Swords, and The Tower? (all three upright) . This isn't really simple... Is this for a reading you have done or for a future reading you plan on doing? If it's for a reading you have done already this is i n the wrong area. If it's for a future reading, does this mean that if these card combinations don't show up that the answer will be "no"? I am totally confused here.
mainemainemaine Posted May 24, 2022 Author Posted May 24, 2022 No, this is not for a reading that’s been done- this was a general question: What RW combos typically reflect love/commitment in a romantic relationship Like, in a very general three-card reading I am simply working on my card combos, that’s all

No, I’m not asking for a yes or no, I’m asking which combos typically indicate that energy for you (RW)- I’m simply trying to get better at my card combos, just asking for other perspectives ☺️ To answer your question question I would say the energy looks to be that of anxiety, guilt, self-doubt that is leading to some kind of self-sabotaging behavior, and most likely isn’t being communicated about, which, if not tended to, could find them confronted with the underlying and unspoken issues in the relationship whether those are real or imagined
fire cat pickles Posted May 25, 2022 Posted May 25, 2022 (edited) Yes the cards that you mention could be the top cards but many, if not any of the other cards in the deck could in the right circumstances. Edited May 25, 2022 by fire cat pickles

For example, I asked you how you'd read the Devil, Nine of Swords, and the Tower if they came up for the question of whether a relationship will be a long-lasting connection. You answered: 1 hour ago, mainemainemaine said: To answer your question question I would say the energy looks to be that of anxiety, guilt, self-doubt that is leading to some kind of self-sabotaging behavior, and most likely isn’t being communicated about, which, if not tended to, could find them confronted with the underlying and unspoken issues in the relationship whether those are real or imagined The combination of Devil, Nine of Swords, and Tower could mean those things. That combo could also be interpreted as an extremely strong bond with someone for whom there is a powerful physical desire and a passion that feels out of control, so much that it keeps the person awake at night, or feeling an intense pull to someone they never thought they'd be attracted to, and which leads to the breaking down of defenses (getting closer), possibly the most amazing, explosive sex life they ever experienced, and even life-changing enlightenment and growth. I think I'd stick around for that! A lot of readers would automatically predict doom and gloom upon seeing those cards, BUT that combination of cards could also bode quite well for a relationship's longevity - it all depends on who is asking and who is reading. So, really, memorizing card combinations could do you a disservice as a reader. . Edited May 25, 2022 by geoxena
