Spirit guides

Hiya,

 

I’ve become interested in doing my own personal spirit guide readings lately (more of a meet & greet tbh). 
 

I’ve played around with a few spreads I’ve found online, but have had a lot of trouble connecting to the cards. much of what I’ve found regarding contacting guides deals in dream work or signs- my wheelhouse is tarot so I’d like to facilitate it there, ideally.

 

I’m specifically interested in more one on one contact/conversation- less seeking guidance & more getting to know who I’m working with. 

I’m seeing like, 11 common guides? I’m not ready for all of that, I’d just like to focus on a couple to start. 
 

Any advice/guidance? Any of your own tips or tricks that have worked for you? Specifically looking for guidance on how to adapt cards & their interpretations to suit such a reading- i was dejected when my spirit guide identified as the 8 of wands/coins- a jet setting businessman in pursuit of further education  😂🤷🏻

For me, it’s mostly about the choice of deck. I have certain decks that work really well for this and others that don’t. I don’t think there is a specific deck that will appeal to everyone for these matters. It’s most likely very personal. But my favorite is the Stretch tarot. I use it for spirit readings, past life readings etc. And I interpret it in a very visual sense. I go with the imagery and watch the story unfold in the cards. I would typically lay down multiple cards so I can see the big picture and better understand what I’m being told. I think that using any deck that you find visually informative is a good place to start. In my experience, spirits often communicate in symbolism and images.

Hey @Nikkinine, how are you? what an amazing topic! ☺️ I ran to see because that interests me a lot!

I thought the deck choice tip was really cool. I didn't know the Stretch tarot! Very nice! There are also decks of saints, ascended masters, witches, angels, past lives, ghosts and spirits (I wish I had them all!) that can facilitate the identification of the entity. Maybe this can help!

 

I usually use a spread that works a lot for me, and maybe it might interest you. It's called "message from beyond" - with 5 cards. 
1 - Who is sending the message (in this position I prefer to use major arcana. But you could use one of the decks suggested above, angels for example)
2,3,4 - The message (here you could also insert, along with the tarot cards, the deck of sentences to complement. There are some decks with only phrases, words, sentences).
5 - Advice

 

Despite being a spread that I don't use that much, the few times I used it (even only with the RWS tarot) I had very nice experiences. 

One of them was very remarkable because all the cards that contain the figure of angels appeared (temperance, world, wheel, lovers and judgment)! It was very clear to me that some angel energy could be trying to communicate!

i checked out the stretch deck & it’s very neat. I think I’ll take your advice & use my light seers deck & study the imagery on the cards to see if that helps paint a better picture :). I reckon I’ll get decent results.

I’m well, hope you are too. Thank you for your super detailed response- I love it! 
 

That spread is very interesting- I’m saving it for later 👌🏻. Using only the major arcana- I dig. Now do you use the major arcana exclusively for this entire spread, or only for the first card?  & those cards you said you pulled are super powerful- very cool.
 

I did a guide spread & after much deep diving/interpretation, I accept that the answer is 6 of wands… so I’ve got more of a spirit team backing me than any specific guides so far, but that’s alright because it does coincide with information I’ve gotten about them over the years. I’m just working on getting to know them individually now. I tend to communicate with them best via synchronicity- so I’m working on that.
