I recently got interested in Tarot, bought myself a deck - Radiant Rider-Waite which is really beautiful (I did an online 'which tarot deck should I get' and this was recommended). I was visiting the UK and saw some decks in an LGBT bookshop in Affleck's Palace in Manchester. Bought the Radiant deck and A Little Book of Tarot by Cassandra Eason.

For now I am at the stage of getting used to the images on the cards and taking a daily single-card to read using the guidance in the Little Book and other online resources.

I live in Waterford in the south-east of Ireland with my lovely husband. I'm retired so have a bit of time to develop new interests so here I am!

Welcome to the community @MichaelH glad you have found us here 🙂 :animated-smileys-signs-085: We have many LGBTQ+ members across the spectrum and we are a very warm and friendly place 😀

Waterford has that gorgeous crystal glass 🙂

Congrats on getting into tarot after your retirement, I may be biased by it's my fave hobby and interest and although you have to work at it, learn and study and also actually use the cards, it's a good way of really getting a new skill with time.

We have a thread on the forum with a collection of free learning resources across the web. You can use any of the RWS ones with your Radiant Tarot (which has gorgeous colouring)....

If you need anymore resources apart from the Little Book of Tarot. The Learn Tarot course (first link on that list) is great with RWS based decks, you do lessons and gives you a great foundation.

Doing a daily card is a great way of learning them and getting used to the art

Do post any questions or things you get stuck with in our tarot discussion areas. Do start a new thread or search the forum through the old threads and you can always add new replies to them.

You can post readings to get help with in the Personal Readings area but you can only access exchange and reading areas when you get to 5 posts. Make sure you follow the rules of that section at the top of it, you have to give an interpretation of the cards and reading first and then we can give our views 🙂 .

Finally, we have monthly tarot circles where you are paired with a random forum member. They are all slightly different in circle purpose. This is a great way of learning by practically reading with people and you get feedback to learn for the future. You need to have 5 posts to access them and they begin sign ups in the first week of every month. When you feel confident, that's a great way of practising with others 🙂

Thanks for the welcome!

I'm a great believer in things happening when the Universe is ready so am open to whatever happens. I've had enough experience of life to see the signs and the signs were that this was my time to start working with the tarot cards and to do a bit of digging around in the world of divination. I have friends who were into tarot in the past and I had a phase of interest myself many years ago,. I was given a deck back then but with lots of moving around I've no idea what happened to it.

I've just signed up as a subscriber so will have a look around this site and explore the links in your post. I think it's going to be an exciting and enjoyable journey.

Ireland is a very mystical place and I visit a number of old sites fairly regularly. My favourite local dolmen is the one called Leac an Scail which is quite stunning and not on the usual tourist trail. I wasn't born in Ireland but my parents were and I moved here five years ago. A sign that the Universe was moving in that direction was that I had arranged a date with the man I am now married to at the time I was over for a few days collecting the keys to my new home. And his surname is the same as that of my previous husband who had sadly died back in 2015...

Looking forward to the journey with tarot 🙂

Hello @MichaelH welcome to the TT&M Family :animated-smileys-signs-085: Indeed Ireland is a very mystical place! I was there for a retreat once I did not want to leave.
