Hi everyone - complete newbie here

Hi, I'm Alex Harry and have just joined. I am presently still learning a lot.

Last year I went through a lot of personal madness and really my tarot cards were the only thing I could really turn to. I kept working with them and have found them to be one of the most supportive things in my life. I am so grateful for turning to them and learning about them. I am really looking forward to learning from you all and hopefully making a positive contribution myself.

Hey Holmes!

Thank you for the welcome. I just started following the instructions in the back of my booklet - I had gotten the deck and booklet as a child and then had toyed with them, until last year - all that time I could have used Tarot to help me in life but never gave it enough time!

I'm not very good at meditation and am new to that also, but I just started out with the cross spread and a three card spread, then noticed as I was shuffling the same cards were flying out over and over as I thought or spoke about the same issues. I started sort of having a conversation with my cards - I'm not sure if that's recommended!

I think if you Google inner dialog and tarot maybe something might come up. 

I know people imagine themselves on the various positions on the cards. 

 

Course be differnt if you were talking to the devil card, and it was answering as a complete entity.

yup that would be spooky, and thanks for the google tip i might try that thank you. 

Sometimes I think my cards are just showing me my own emotions, not necessarily anything prophetic at this point. Perhaps this is a card cleansing thing i need to do also before working with them?

@AlexHarry you can test that out 🙂 . If you feel confident enough you could always read for someone else on the forum and see because then you would be more impartial 😉

 

Some people cleanse their cards with various methods, other people don't at all, it really is a personal choice. I think we all have to find our own ritual with how we use our decks.

 

There is a spread discussing this here to read sometime.....

 

 

 

There are a few older threads on this you can search for in the forum as well.

 

Do look through our older posts and start new discussions on anything you want to know about or discuss 🙂

thanks heaps, so as i understand it asking for advice on reading a spread is not allowed is that correct?

If it is a reading for yourself,

You go to the personal reading

Take a picture of your cards it helps

You have to interpret your reading first. 

Then anyone who is interested can try to help you.

Be sure to specific about positions if you use reversals

(Take a look t your readings section,)

 

The third party rules is it has to be about you.  How can I learn from this.for example.

 

If itbis a spread you are working on, take a look at the spread section

Just follow the thread of the rules at the top of the section, especially if you want to post in Personal Tarot Readings. You need to give your own interpretation of the cards in the posting and then we can help and give our ideas and comments 🙂
