Leo_Card_Slinger Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 Hello everyone, I have been feeling directionless over the last few months and started using the tarot to see what my purpose in life could possibly be. Each time I have asked the question, "What is my purpose this lifetime?" I get the four of swords--even when using tarot apps on my phone! I think I understand what it means, but also I don't understand. From what I can gather, my purpose is to take it easy and recover--possibly from something in previous past lives. Today I asked again what my purpose was, but drew two cards this time for a clearer picture. I got the four of swords again and the king of cups. To me, these cards double down on the "take it easy" theme. Can anyone tell me if I am on the right track with my interpretation? Thanks in advance, Leo
Cobweb Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 Would it make sense to think of 4 Swords as meaning not just a rest but also a retreat, a quiet time for intense thought/prayer/meditation? And the King of Cups as someone who is empathetic/sensitive/caring?
IndigoWaves Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 Hello, Leo :) Could this repeat 4S actually be reflecting a current state of mind/affairs rather than answering your question, I wonder? The cards do that at times, when something not directly inquiried on really needs our attention. The King of Cups is the least ambitious and extroverted King, as well: potentially 'directionless' and outwardly immobile, in that respect... So, might you already be 'taking it easy' now in your life, maybe to excess, and perhaps not really wanting to leave that position at this time? The '4s' and Kings do tend towards stasis/fixedly maintaining the status quo... If this does ring a bell, then a more helpful question to read on might be something like: "What can I do to motivate myself to achieve more/participate more actively in my life?" ...Or, "What activities would most energize me now/inspire me to make tangible progress?" (If you already are working like dog nowadays, though, I could see your own interpretation applying as current advice to relax more.) Otherwise, perhaps your 'purpose' isn't answerable/can't actually be nailed down at this time, if it ever will be... Or, maybe you're meant to follow more than one significant path in this lifetime. Just some ideas, anyway. Cheers.
EmpyreanKnight Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 Cobweb and IndigoWaves gave very good insights. I'm going to hone in on possible jobs connected to these cards tho, since some people do consider their career as a big part of their life's purpose. The King of Cups gives off healer vibes, while the guy in the 4 of Swords looks like a patient or something. So maybe you're here to help others heal - physically, emotionally, or maybe even spiritually. I have Lady Lorelei's book, Tarot Life Planner, and under King of Cups she listed doctor, nurse or therapist as possible careers. Under 4 of Swords tho, she listed worker at a beach, mountain, or any tourist resort. I would add meditation guru and masseur/masseuse to that too.
EmpyreanKnight Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 I just realized that all of those who posted prior to this comment are new to the Forums. Welcome to TT&M, and we're so glad to have you here! I recognized your username, IndigoWaves. :D
IndigoWaves Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 Thank you, EmpyreanKnight! It's very nice to see you and other AT-ers here. :D
Cobweb Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 Thank you for the welcome, EmpyreanKnight. I was not an AT member - sadly, I discovered AT only in its last days. I'm pleased to have found TT&M now.
Guest Empathic_Cap Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 To me this sounds like in your past life possibly that you were a Doctor or a counseled of some sort. That’s using my previous experience with the KiC with that being said if you were either of these chosen paths the 4 of swords could Me that you help people relax and rest. Or metaphorical speaking you can be the person who puts other people’s problems to rest ;). Well that’s all I can say from both my experience and intuition. Hope it helps
Magickjack Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 I also see it as a reflection of what is going on with you at this time. But now it's time for you to take your rejuvinated self and move on into your role of the King of Cups. He is an extrovert but he does it in a more relaxed way. A" take it easy way" attitude. Looks like you may have needed this pause. Think of all the people that are going to like you! Talk to others. See what they do. Do a little networking. King of Cups has many good atributes. Including helping others. If nothing else, you'll be relaxed, carefree and the life of the party.
AJ-ish/Sharyn Posted January 13, 2018 Posted January 13, 2018 In general terms I see the fours as a type. reflect on the focus of the suit and think stability structure stagnation. Where does that card fall? All that said to say, when I hear a card comes up and comes up it is more a reflection on shuffling/drawing habit. Cards that are shuffled and then dealt off the top end up with repeaters as the top and bottom cards don't change place much. To avoid this myself I shuffle a couple of times, take a 1/3-ish cut of the deck, move it to the back and shuffle again. I always fan and draw at random. So if the same card comes up in the same spot of the query, it is time to stop shuffling and get to acting on that advice :) Love your username, I am a needle slinger.
