We cut off long t-shirt sleeves to put them over our mirrors, which stopped the birds but caused the neighbors to ask a lot of questions! 😂  At first I thought you meant they were attacking your mirrors while you were driving. That would be terrifying. 😮
Rachelcat Posted October 4, 2022 Posted October 4, 2022 Here's today's!  I'll finish off this week tomorrow, and then you won't see me next week. But I'll be back after that!
MichaelH Posted October 4, 2022 Posted October 4, 2022 (edited) Here is my reading using my deck of the week. Very interesting indeed. First time using a spread from Emerald Lotus, and first of this kind of spread looking at my ancestry.   Gifts from Ancestors Tarot Spread  from Emerald Lotus https://www.emeraldlotusdivination.com/blog/2022/4/7/gifts-from-ancestors-tarot-spread  Using the Gilded Tarot Royale  Card 1 What is a gift my ancestors are trying to give me? Four of Pentacles Card 2 What does this gift mean to me? King of Pentacles Card 3 How can I allow myself to receive this gift? The Lovers Card 4 What do my ancestors want me to know? Wheel of Fortune Card 5 How can I heal my ancestral wounds? Page of Cups Card 6 How can I honour my ancestors? Knight of Cups  Interestingly, I seem to be stalked by the King of Pentacles. He was my daily draw card on Sunday, and has figured in a reading with this deck yesterday and now again today. Here there is a Pentacles and Cups theme with two Major Arcana cards in this spread, so to do with material wealth and emotions. The Hierophant yesterday indicated that there might be an issue to do with ancestors so I decided to try this spread to see if I could find something. My parents were economic migrants in the 1950s but other than that all my family tree as far back as I can go never left four small towns in Ireland. And in the way of emigrant families, ‘home’ wasn’t where we lived but back in Ireland. So I have a sense of disconnect from my ancestry, though I now live in Ireland and quite close to the two towns that my mother’s ancestors came from.  On to the reading itself.  The Four of Pentacles again appeared yesterday so this is a familiar card, indicating security, self-improvement and holding onto money, protecting what is mine. There can be a conflict here between greed and selfishness contrasting with self-care and setting boundaries. I see it here as telling me to share things, practise gratitude and let it lead me to generosity. I need to explore themes of abundance and scarcity in my life. I also can learn to set boundaries for myself and prioritise my needs.  The King of Pentacles, my current ‘stalker’. Yesterday this card appeared in a position representing myself, and this seems to be the case again today. He is a generous man, a visionary with a plan, a hard worker with a sense of achievement. I can make the most of my assets, and value things like order and common sense, quality over quantity. Every time I sort through this deck, he has caught my eye so there is a definite message here for me.  The Lovers. Some keywords for me from this card are ‘follow the wisdom of your heart’. The act of choice is the heart of this card. What is driving my choices? Are my decisions in line with my values? Making the right choice is not always easy but it leads to the greatest fulfilment. Can I love myself enough? I should slow down and feel the situation, taking the time to explore different choices. I can work with my values, be lofty and bold. I need to examine the quality of my relationships. Where might I create deeper honesty and trust?  Wheel of Fortune. Weaving the tapestry of my life. Fate and destiny. Taking responsibility. This card can open up a conversation about creating change. I should separate the things I can change from the things I can’t and focus energy on the former. Life is lived in the intersection between being ‘in the flow’ and grabbing the wheel to direct things. Nothing lasts forever. Interconnectedness is also highlighted – I am part of a world-wide web of interactions.  Page of Cups, representing the heart’s adventure. I need to explore new ways of understanding and expressing spirituality. And not take things too seriously. I should be eager, curious, light of spirit and ready for adventure.  Knight of Cups. I see this as reinforcing the message from the Page. The knight represents pure feeling without form, immersing himself in feeling and surrendering to it. But there is also a fun element here, so I need to enjoy the experience.  I like to use ‘bottom of the deck’ energy, so at the bottom of this deck was the Knight of Swords. Another knight to reinforce the Knight of Cups, but more confident, bold and dynamic. I need to expect the unexpected.  Overall a very positive reading. Some of these messages have appeared in other readings so I do get a sense of a theme in my current life. Explore the world of emotions and spirituality, while knowing that the practical matters of life are taken care of. Live in the moment.  Edited to add that I'm very happy for anyone else to comment or add insights. I'm still at an early stage in my tarot journey and willing to hear from others on things I may have missed, as well as things I'm doing OK with.   Edited October 4, 2022 by MichaelH Adding final sentence
Bodhiseed Posted October 4, 2022 Posted October 4, 2022 @MichaelH, I really like the ancestors spread and thought your takeaway was great. My only thought would be that the tenderness of the Page of Cups might represent self-compassion.
AnomalyTempest Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 Here's another reading with the Urban Tarot. Â

My only thought would be that the tenderness of the Page of Cups might represent self-compassion. Thanks. Self-compassion is good too.  In the spirit of honouring my ancestors, here are a couple of photos. The oldest is my great-great-grandmother, Mary Daly, who married my great-great-grandfather Thomas Heery in Navan, county Meath in 1869. She was born in 1842 during the great famine that killed a million Irish people and forced another million to emigrate.  And then my grandparents, James Heary and Mary Traynor. Both died young and left my father and his brothers orphaned. They were the youngest of their large families so although I have many relations, I don't really know any of them as my father was fostered then adopted rather than taken in by any of them. The baby in the photo will be my uncle Jimmy - my grandfather died not long after he was born. So more disconnect from my ancestors.
Bodhiseed Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 @MichaelH, thank you for sharing those wonderful photos! Â

My BIO class is wrapping up, with my lab final tomorrow and my lecture final Monday. After that I should have more time to explore my decks, at least here and there!  Should I put you down with these two decks, then @Mi-Shell?

fire cat pickles Posted October 6, 2022 Author Posted October 6, 2022 (edited) Sounds good! Have fun 🙂   ETA: I know it's Thursday, but I have actually been doing quickdraws with my Williams' Renaissance Tarot for the last few weeks. This will be my deck for the coming week. I'm not going to add it to the list for this week because it's a bit late.  Interestingly, I have been getting the Empress for the questions "How am I doing in my BIO class in comparison to others?" and the Wheel for "How will I do in my next lecture exam?" (I took this one yesterday afternoon.)  The lecture exam hasn't been graded yet. I am not sure how I did but it wasn't nearly as difficult as I thought it was. It was in an online format and randomly, computer generated from a bank of hundreds of questions, and the material was from four chapters. The essay questions were from a list of a possible 33 questions. Absolutely inhuman and inhumane to expect anyone to be able to do such a task. Luckily for me (the Wheel!) I have a high B and this test will hardly have an effect on my grade.  The finals (there are two, a lab and a lecture) are each 10% and so neither will have a great effect on my grade. The Empress is comfortable in her position. Maybe the third from the top of the class, if I'm guessing? Creativity and preparation have helped me through to a fruitful conclusion.  Anyway, enough time dedicated here! I'll see you all soon.... Watch for next week's; I'll post it shortly 🙂  Edited October 6, 2022 by fire cat pickles
