Does anyone here have the Sola Busca Tarocchi that was published by Scarlet Imprint in 2017? I just have a few questions.

Thank you!

Yes, I have it. What questions do you have?

Inquiring minds would love to know what you want to know....

Sometimes the questions we have about a deck, could help others who want to know the answers as well. It's worth bringing out the discussion here because others might search for it on the forum later, also the community grows by people discussing things 🙂

I'm just nosy, as I had decided not to buy it (I have several) - but maybe I might want to....

@gregory That's a great find! I decided I'll just purchase The Game of Saturn too. I am mindful of the critiques against it, but it still sounds highly intriguing so at the very least I'll be entertained.

But really, I do think that Adams's theories are plausible. In any case, I've been dipping into Saturnine esoterica, so this will be a valued addition to my books.

Lastly: Io, Saturnalia! Welp, belated really, but just the same I hope you had an enjoyable one.

I just got the book The Game Of Saturn - also from Scarlet.  I think that should cover everything ?

Game of Saturn is well worth the exhorbitant $85 it cost (I seldom to never spend so much money on a book). Especially as an astrologer it is a fascinating read.

Can’t explain in a forum post … but there is “something” more than meets the eye to that book. Sola Busca deck always horrified me. I only bought it (on sale) for teaching and research. When I bought that big overpriced book … things made a lot more sense vis a vis my sense of horror about the deck and the strange chain of events that happened around buying and reading the book.

Whew @Misterei! I must admit that the deck never scared me, it was just so fascinating. Used it in a reading a couple of months ago.

But your comment made me very interested about what the book had to say about the deck and also about Saturn. It certainly has that kind of reputation, something that very few Tarot tomes I know possess. Glorified and lambasted, talked about even by esotericists who would scarce have anything to do with the Tarot at all. A whiff of the malefic, a whisper of the forbidden.

And now I'm very curious about the chain of events you were referring to lol.

Me too.... Do tell... (But I hope it didn't cost that much for the person who gave it to me... :classic_blink: It was a Christmas gift. It IS a used copy.)

To be clear, my question is about the deck, not the book.  Is there any significant difference in the quality of the reproduction of the Sola Busca tarot by Scarlet Imprint and the one put out by Lo Scarabeo in 2019 (the box has "Museum Quality" printed on the top)?  Is acquisition of the deck produced by Scarlet Imprint mostly a collector's issue?

Posted

Well I'm a collector and I haven't bought the Scarlet one.

I'm not necessarily talking about purchase when I use the word 'acquisition'.  That's not really relevant to what I'm looking for and maybe I didn't say it plainly enough.  If that's the case, I apologize.

What did you mean then ? seriously - acquisition actually means the act of acquiring something. The act of acquiring or gaining possession. Possession is ownership. What did you intend to mean ? And what - otherwise - would it mean - being a collector's issue ? Collectors acquire things in order to possess them. Trust me, of all people here, I know this.

🤣  Every time I tried to type a better way of expressing my curiosity it sounded worse than each previous attempt so I gave up!  Sometimes it's just best to step away for a bit.  Frustrated?  Yeah, me too.  LOL

Okay, so to restate without pointing specifically to gregory, who, btw, we already know is a collector:

My point being that sometimes there is a color quality that makes one version better than another.  Or somehow, despite being called a reproduction, the printer/printing house/whoever else has a hand in these things somehow changes things in the images.  Or stock paper quality.

I do own the LS version.

And just because I feel like being a festering sore...

I acquired my deck via purchase.  I did not acquire my deck via being gifted it.  😜

Acquisition is the same thing whether it happens through purchase or gifting - or even theft ! Just to be clear and no criticism intended.

I have acquired two LoS versions, as well as their "Illuminating Ancient" version from years ago, the Wolfgang Mayer LE put out by Berti, and the significantly revamped one from Elaine Wilkinson.  I think I like the one in the Anima Antiqua series the best. I really don't see a need to collect yet another. And I haev teh Scarlet book - I am guessing the colouring etc matches the actual deck they printed.

Here's a video comparing the Scarlet printing with the Mayer.

I watched the video and if anyone is curious, the LS (or LoS) appears to have the same color saturation as the Scarlet Imprint edition with similar backs.  The one marked "Museum Quality" is the LS edition I'm referring to here.  I went hunting online for the Scarlet Imprint version and all I can say is that there's no chance I'll ever own one!  💲💲💲💲💸

Well, the Berti one is still for sale in his etsy shop and it's lovely. (but I have no idea of your price limit - it's more there than I paid for mine, as I am on his mailing list and get early offers !)

I can't even see a Scarlet one for sale !

The Berti edition has that extra border edge on the cards.  I'm not in a place to purchase any deck at the moment but looking at the price, I'd likely give that one a pass plus I'm not generally interested in having different editions of the same deck though I have made exceptions for one or two that I have.  On the other hand, if I'd purchased the Berti first and then discovered the Scarlet Imprint or the LoS version that I currently possess because of the obvious difference in color saturation and border, I would have purchased a second edition.

As for a Scarlet Imprint for sale, I didn't come across one that was actively up for sale anywhere but found past sales.

There is also the Il Meneghello version. I don't have that either - but it is still available - for about $150...

@Akhilleus @gregory

I've removed this post. LOVE and TRUST all my friends on this forum ... but the story is too personal to put on the internet. Thanks to those who read and got it.

I get that (I will look it up after dinner....) Spooking things are enough to send anyone off on one. I've not hit anything like that. What I HAVE read is that the deck is actually an instruction manual for some rather dark sex magic.... Which would almost fit with what you experienced.

But when did you get the actual deck - in terms of the time frame of the book and your experience ??
