Runa Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 As the title says! I'm a huge herpetology and ornithology nerd and I would be fascinated to find more decks featuring these animals. Birds seem to be commonly featured in decks, I specifically have my eye on the Crow tarot because they're my favorite birds! But reptiles I don't see so much. I would love to see a deck full of snakes, lizards, turtles, geckos, all the reptiles! As for birds, I'm amazed that an Audubon oracle does not seem to exist yet. Perhaps I should make my own. I know there's a set of Audubon playing cards that I could easily convert into an oracle! There's also the Wingspan board game that comes with beautiful cards but I don't fancy buying the whole game just for those. I did try playing the game once at a bar and unfortunately found it extremely confusing and not very fun lol. My husband and I instead turned the game into him reading the scientific names of the birds to me and having me guess the bird on the card which was way more fun. Does anyone else here share my enthusiasm for either of these two groups of creatures?
Vesta Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 Have you checked this one out? It's a bit pricey, but has all sorts of birds, reptiles, insects, etc. 5 Cent Tarot - Totems and Tarot

Guest Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 Llewellyn will release the Tarot of the Owls early next year. Comes in a set with a companion book too so you might want to check it out.
Runa Posted November 3, 2022 Author Posted November 3, 2022 @Niobium I kind of regret making this post because now I want to buy ALL of these! I could easily go broke trying to collect all of these.
Raggydoll Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 I used to own the Bird Oracle deck but ended up selling it. I think the illustrations were lovely and the card quality was very good. But the deck itself didn’t really work for me. The card meanings were mostly drawn from the creators personal experiences and the guidebook contained a lot of personal anecdotes. To me, it was difficult to remember the intended meanings and I also didn’t resonate with a lot of the keywords. For a while I tried to use my own intuitive meanings for the birds but found that the selection of birds wasn’t as balanced as I would have wanted. Plus a lot of the birds were from parts of the world that I had never been to, and so I had no personal references for those birds. I just wanted to mention that, since it’s a fairly expensive deck.
Niobium Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 @Runa I am a terrible enabler 😄 There's also a Reptiles Deck on KS, though I'm not sure it'll get funded. Nice art but the border and font leave a lot to be desired. @Raggydoll I have found this keeps me from using the deck as much as I would like as well. I may eventually have to let it go for space considerations; the art is so amazing but the meanings are more difficult to grasp when I compare it to Nocturna or the Obsidian Oracle, for example.
Raggydoll Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Here is a bird deck that I’ve looked at many times in the past, but the price of shipping and import has made me refrain. I love how whimsical yet well illustrated it is. https://www.ebay.com/itm/123734312454
