Guest Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 In the last four years I've bought exactly one oracle deck so yes, I'm not exactly a fan of them. While I love plants, prior to today all the horticultural decks I've encountered - Tarot or otherwise - have left me cold. While some are competently illustrated, they all just seem so uninspired. Until I came upon the Magickal Botanical Oracle. Insta-deck lust so yeah I ordered it. Will most probably reach our shores next month - I can't wait! Has anybody worked with this deck though? I'm especially curious about the Journal. I haven't ordered that one since I haven't found any review yet. No idea what the contents are. If you're curious, I found more of Madeline Miller's art on this oracle on HER SITE. The Rose card looks so lit!
Mi-Shell Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 Oh, what an interesting Oracle! As of late I have slipped into collecting botanical/ plant related oracles and this one would be a nice addition to that collection. However, I am not so sure how much I like / not like the very prevalent human element in the images..... Thank you for the food for thought♥
Guest Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 Oh wow, I think you hit the nail right on the head @Mi-Shell. Aside from its Gothic aesthetic and overt occultism, it might be the presence of humans and humanoid/mythical creatures that made this horticultural deck exceptional to me. If you remove all of them, I might not have given it a second glance. 😅
Mi-Shell Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 Ha ha, then we just may have quite opposite tastes in that matter!? 🙂 I do prefer the decks, that have the image of the plant prominently on the image - no humans.... or as a very distinctly secondary embellishment of the plant. That is probably so, because I use many herbs and healing plants / Plant Medicine in my shamanic practice with my clients. I do love the botanically exact drawings out of old apothecary books for example, but also do have a couple decks with photographic images and also some with collages 🙂

Much, much respect on this. I've always been interested in pharmacobotany, but I've never fully explored it. Don't want to sound like a dilettante so I'll zip it lol.
Mi-Shell Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 ♥ Please do not "zip it" ♥ Pharmacobotany is a lifelong journey of learning from others, discovery and very personal intuitions about certain Plants - and YOU are a fellow traveler on this path. It was trodden upon by the Ancients - even our Neanderthal brothers and sisters, and it will lead into the mists of future.......
