This year we are asking, What was your favourite deck / decks of 2022?

 

This is the discussion thread, you can discuss the vote to your heart's content here. You are also welcome to post any questions, suggestions and your reasons for your deck vote here.

Every Member gets 2 votes, one must be a tarot deck and the other can be any kind of card deck you like

You submit your vote by posting the names of your deck choices in the voting thread here

You are welcome to give your reasons for the decision here, you can pick your choices however you like

You can change your vote up to the deadline, edit your original post if you can or submit a new post and I will cross out the earlier one. Just say you are changing your vote in the new post

Voting will close on the 28th of February and then votes will be locked, they will then be collated and counted

There will be a list of the top decks 2022 as voted by our community

The decks I worked with the most last year and which are therefore my favorites are the Thoth Tarot and the RWS Centennial Tarot. I'm letting them rest for a year though, so I shan't be touching them before September.

First is my beloved Mary-El Tarot, which was my most used deck and the second, a new one to me which blew me away, is Tarot of the Abyss. No question about it, this was a very easy pick actually.

My votes - Khanesha and Serpent and the Peacock - were decks which were new in 2022. IF I were to run with favourite decks Pagan Cats would just show up every year - and that's boring.

I chose an independent deck: the Serpent and the Peacock and a mass market: Tarot Cats by Ana Juan.

 

Both decks riffle shuffle well, fit in my hands and are both a joy to work with and to look at.

I wanted to discuss how to do the results and open it up for discussions here.

 

I am thinking of doing two lists; tarot and non-tarot decks by counting the deck mentions as the results.

 

I could also make a poll based on the final top ten decks but the polling feature here has technical limitations. You have to start it in a new thread, select the choices and cannot later add or write them in (which is why it was unhelpful to us at the start of this for any deck choices). Also it allows one vote or multiple choice but no in-between. Also it might be over the top to do another poll.

 

If you have any suggestions or ideas about the results do post them here over the next month

I voted for the 2 Tarot decks that I used most in 2022 

BUT I did mostly work with/ explore several Oracle decks during that year. My favorites of these are:

Soulflower Plant Spirit

Hedgewitch Botanical Oracle

I got the Soulflower last year (I always want to write Sunflower 🌻 for that deck for some reason) @Mi-Shell and already own the Hedgewitch, they are both great oracles! ❤️

RWS Pamela Colman Smith Tarot - This is a current fave RWS deck and I use it so much and I just love the colours and backgrounds

 

Tarot by Caro - Often you have your top 3 fave decks and think you will never find a deck that enters your fave decks again. But this deck came along and really the artwork so clicks for me. It's near perfect for me in style and art! I raved about it for anyone who would listen all 2022 and sometimes even to those who didn't want to know about it . Sometime I will start a study group for it and work through every card.

 

By picking those two, I couldn't pick Fyodor Pavlov's Tarot Deck, it was so close behind those for me. It really is a good LGBT+ deck and lovely depictions. I really like the Trans couple Lovers card and so many of the cards.

I chose a tarot deck and an Oracle deck, also one mass market and one indie. And they're both decks that were published late 2021 or in 2022. Like gregory I didn't want to just choose my favourite deck because it would be boring to just be voting for the same deck every year.

Heavenly Bloom Tarot

I like the art style and the images tend to have a good amount of detail. It stands out for me because I remember doing a really interesting and detailed reading for someone with it and I enjoyed the discussion we had about it afterwards. I like the rose gold gild edging on the cards too. It's a really pretty deck.

 

Mythic Cats

I like the art here too and I loved all the little extras I got with the deck. Stickers and bookmarks and the hex cores. It's a really nice Oracle deck. I like working with it.

1st Place 🥇 = Light Seer's Tarot, Tarot of the Abyss and The Serpent and the Peacock Tarot (4 votes each)

2nd Place 🥈 = Animal Totem Tarot, Smith-Waite Centennial Tarot, Soul Cats Tarot and Tabula Mundi Tarot (2 votes each)

3rd Place 🥉 = All the other decks (1 vote each)
