Karrma Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 Thanks for creating this site. My name is Karrma as part of its my last name and I am a Ma, a she/her person. I started learning on the Eclectic Tarot site years ago and just found this site today when doing some research. I live on land of the Coastal Salish, my heritage is Scandinavian and Eastern European, and my most recent learning is with runes and nordic ancestry and the Greenwood Tarot as its pre-celtic imagery resonates with me. Also I have been learning about solar and lunar calendars and solar-lunar calendars.
FindYourSovereignty Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 Welcome to the forum, Karrma. The Greenwood Tarot is on my wishlist. I follow the 13-Moon calendar as a practice simply because I believe it is more natural for our bodies to flow with the sun and the moon cycle vs the manmade Gregorian calendar. What solar-lunar calendar system are you learning? This is a great, supportive forum.

While I have really enjoyed learning the moon cycles, I have not really considered a 13 moon calendar as it seems hard to be in two worlds at the same time. I am starting a Greenwood Tarot Year of the Wheel study, and asked the question on whether to start the study on solar Imbolc (Feb 1st or 2nd) or lunar Imbolc at the new moon in 2 weeks. I then looked at some information from the Nordic Animist Year, a book I had from 2000 and realized that for that particular calendar, the first new moon was just after the winter solstice, so they would have considered the January 21 the second full moon of this solar-lunar year, and have a leap month this summer. I do not know the druidic or Wiccan solar lunar calendars, but curious. My plants outside say that Imbolc is here already, with chive shoots, parsley and sorrel shoots, primrose, rosemary and winter jasmine flowers which are usually seen about this time of February. What type of 13 moon calendar do you practice, and how do they add a leap month?

The 13 Moon calendar does not follow the Gregorian calendar at all. It, IMO, is quite complicated to get into the depth of it, but I follow it from the perspective of acknowledging the 28 day cycle and recognizing a Day Out of Time on July 25. You can learn more about it here. I am planning on starting the Wheel of the Year next Samhain. I’ve not followed it before, but am very interested in doing so. Maybe I’ll have a Greenwood deck by then. It must be lovely to have plants presenting themselves.
DanielJUK Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 @Karrma I remembered that I remember seeing your username around Aelectic 🙂
