kkaravaggio Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 I have been doing tarot for a year but I am still learning. I haven't done a-lot of readings until recently because of a new relationship. Currently I just shuffle and whatever falls I take into account, I never know when to stop though. So I will have 10 cards on the table and be confused because I can't exactly interpret what's going on with so many cards. So what are simple spreads for newbies like me?
gregory Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 For one thing - before you start,, frame your question - and not a yes/no one. Make it very clear - and once you start to read, don't change the parameters. Then decide what you want each position to represent. Are you looking at a past/present/future situation - in which case there are your three - and only three - cards. Are there problems or obstacles ? Maybe what's in my way/what's helping me/what am I missing ? SWOT - Strengths/weaknesses/opportunities Then lay out as many cards as you need - one for each "issue". Three is a rather good starting point, IMNVHO.
dippingin Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 I'm a beginner but I find 3 cards not quite enough but the celtic cross of 10 cards is overwhelming. I like using 5 cards in the cross of truth spread.
gregory Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 While I quite often read just one card. I never use the CC though - I'm with you there.
DanielJUK Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 Our old tarot forum has a wonderful spread archive, on this page linked are relationship spreads and sexual ones are down the page a bit, explore it all here Personally, I think relationship and love topics need clear positions and a structure to be helpful. But most spreads in this topic have a lot of cards, they are often large spreads and we can see that in the archive spreads there. I think just dealing ten cards without clearly defining their purpose in the reading is not helpful and gives you a lot of work trying to figure it out. Go with a spread. The suggestions here are just templates, so take a few positions from the spreads listed, that you think are helpful in your relationship situation and make your own spread! Go for 3 to 4 cards for a simpler spread. But you can make your own, make it work for you 🙂
InnaSN Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 It is very popular among beginners to use 3x3 spread "thoughts, feelings, intentions" of your love interst towards you. It is quite simple. Pulling more cards might be confusing. Personally, I try to read the cards not only per horizontal but per vertical as well.
