So I trimmed bottom border and bottom narrow image off. Now scanner/eyes/card are all getting along. Life is good :) Click on the image to enlarge it Edited to add: as sometimes happens with trimming the deck becomes a brick to shuffle. Not sorry I did it though.

I have two of the cheap German edition (thought the 1st had disappeared in the mail and contacted amazon for a second deck to be sent and a week or two later the original one actually showed up!) and I've been thinking about trimming one of them. I'd probably trim it down to just the image if I decided to do it.

I felt comfortable doing it because the deck is so widely available. I'd be a bit nervous trimming my more expensive decks. Next on my list to trim is the large Thoth- inspired by CharlotteK[/member].
Raggydoll Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 A trimmed Tarot of the Magical Forest (this one had a tiny colored border inside of the white borders, and because I'm a bit of a perfectionist I had to make sure I got rid of that bit too (otherwise it would have looked awkward in the corners after I had used the corner puncher)
EmpyreanKnight Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 I need to learn how to edge some of my decks. They're fricken gorgeous! I wasn't very good in my Arts and Crafts classes tho, unless if you like grotesque monstrosities. I can also feel my decks cringeing as I consider altering them. sigh
Raggydoll Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 And the Druidcraft (an obvious trimming candidate) Flaxen: Yeah, the Thoth is one of the easiest decks to trim and it is greatly improved by doing so. My thoth was actually the first deck I ever tried trimming and it got me sold on the whole thing. But I never trim just for the sake of trimming, there really has to be a good reason for me to bring out the big guns :D EmpyreanKnight: Edging is really no big deal if you use the right tools. I have tried both permanent markers and ink pads. I must say I definitely prefer ink pads. My favorite is Distress inks (especially for black and antique looking edges) and tsukineko (for gold, silver and bronze). The good thing about these ink pads are that you can easily wipe off your cards if you accidently get color on the fronts or the backs (this would not be possible with a marker as they dry instantly). And it takes a while to dry so you do not have to panic if you notice some residue after an hour or so (but also remember that you must let your cards dry completely before stacking them, otherwise they will smear. I usually wait for 4-5 hours, then I carefully stack them and let them sit over night outside of their box. (Also, these ink pads are acid free so you do not need to worry about them damaging or aging your cards over time. )

Empyrean, I used the Tsukineko Brilliance (Dew Drop size) rubber stamp set the Copper on the Etruscan is divine, not that anyone but me would notice it :) I run the inker around the edge then immediately wipe both sides by brushing each side against a paper towel. You really can't go wrong with this method

But.... I had to wait more than 4 weeks for my first deck to arrive I would be scared to death to touch it with scissors.... X-D
Jewel Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 I am totally paranoid of ruining my decks, but I wish I had the confidence to do this. I was lucky and a friend trimmed my Druid Craft (to the stone borders leaving the titles (which is what I wanted) and it so totally changed the deck in a good way for me. I admire those who can do this. I am sure there are other decks I have I would probably enjoy more if they were trimmed but alas I don't have the tools nor the confidence to do it myself.
